However, if it is thought that the object of the clear manifestation of sense consciousness is indeed other than the aspect to be remembered, then, if that is the case, then for that, memory will also become meaningless. For in grasping that, memory is not necessary, for even without memory, it is understood as such. How does verbal memory apply words? Desiring for the meaning of what is accomplished, and not grasping the distinction of application, what meaning is there in memory for that? If it is said that the eye, etc., together with memory, appear as its own nature, then, without that, there will be no consciousness of its own nature. If it is said that only the appearance of "this" does not change, then it is not so, for even without the appearance of "this," its own nature appears. Even if it exists, it has no other distinction, so what need is there for it? If it is said that it is necessary for entering, then, even without it, it will enter, it should be shown. It will also be shown that it is the direct perception of the mind. However, if it is said that without memory, beginners who do not possess familiarity do not enter, therefore it is desired for the sake of that meaning, then, it should be said to this, if grasping without distinguishing application, without making a connection, then, what else will that memory do, because memory is desired for the meaning of what is accomplished by making a connection. If it is not established in that way, then, understanding that will have no need for memory. The entry of the beginner is only transformed from other valid cognitions, following inference. Therefore, conceptual thought has no function in grasping its own nature, nor does it function in entering. Although this is unnecessary, it is only entering from familiarity. Things do not arise because they are necessary, because things only depend on causes. However, if it grasps a nature different from the previous one, then this is another consciousness of the nature of the direct perception of the mind. It will also be shown in that way. However, if only the general is grasped in that way, but not the distinction that has not been seen before, then, if only the general is grasped, then it should not depend on the distinction. If the eye, etc., grasp only the general, then the distinction

Because there is no other clinging, in the general clinging, if there is no need to rely on special clinging, then change also exists. For example, when the general clinging is "This is a cow," if it is understood as "What kind of cow is this," then it can be seen in the world. Therefore, for the eye and form, etc., relying on them, eye consciousness will arise. Because memory is not needed, eye consciousness arises only from the eye and form. For example, the eye is located in front, and it is understood to only enter form. If it is understood as other, how will the action become other? Understanding as other cannot be understood as other. The eye that sees only entering the form in front cannot be said to enter sound and generality, etc., because there is no valid cognition. If it is understood in this way, it will be too extreme. Therefore, after memory, or before memory, direct perception is not conceptual, because the object is different. After memory, this is fragrant, this is not fragrant, etc., knowledge is not direct perception, because the action of eye consciousness is not only form. Therefore, relying on the eye, etc., whatever arises for phenomena, that is direct perception, and others are not. Therefore, that which has the aspect of sound and generality, etc., is not direct perception. If the reason for appearing clearly depends on others, then that is also not to be grasped. Therefore, mind, etc., are also direct perception. Or, it enters the nature of things and is pervasive, therefore that is also an organ. If, why, relying on both to arise, it is said to rely on the organ, not to rely on the object, from the perspective of objects such as form, it should be named, not from the perspective of the organ. Merely arising from the organ does not become direct perception, but because it enters by grasping the nature of the object, everything is only direct perception. Relying on the organ, some are direct perception, and some will become other. Because there is no error, it is reasonable to name it that. Even if it is produced by the object, the moon
