Then, there is nothing now. Therefore, all hidden things should be understood through inference, and since it is the nature of memory, the experience of consciousness becomes the same. If one's own consciousness is hidden and should be measured by a means of cognition other than inference, then, if it is not so, it itself will become the same. However, the consciousness of others is understood in relation to others, but my consciousness is not, because it is understood only in relation to oneself. If it is said that others are not suitable to be understood in other ways, that is not true. If one grasps with the nature of manifestation, then it is possible. When remembering through inference, because the previous grasping follows. This thing that shows itself is separated from meaning, knowledge, and past examples, and there is no sign as a basis, because by what is it established? Because for it, it is not direct perception, nor is it with a sign. For the knowledge of past things, there is no example, because there is no direct perception. Therefore, thinking that knowledge is understood in relation to oneself and others, this is not with a sign. Similarly, because there is no direct perception, and if it exists, it will not become the past, this has already been said. Therefore, since there is no grasping of the connection with the sign, and it is inference, it will lead to the fault that only consciousness is completely cut off. If it is self-awareness, then it will become a form created by oneself and others. If, like this, since one can infer without connection, is distinction also inference? This is also unreasonable. Who can see that consciousness? Merely grasping the image will arise, for example, from seeing smoke, one will know that there was fire in that direction before. For it, it will not become a distinction of whether the fire was created by oneself or others. If it is said that whatever should be inferred in relation to the body of others is the consciousness of others, and if it is not so, there is a distinction, if my consciousness is grasped by direct perception, then here it is reasonable, like this, whatever grasps the image and becomes self-awareness, that is one's own, and the others are others, therefore the distinction is reasonable.

However, for example, do the Sautrāntikas hold that just as the object apprehended by the consciousness that appears as the nature of the immediately preceding form, etc., so too does the apprehending of form exist as something past? That is not true. Like this: If in its essence, the mind immediately following the appearance were to apprehend like form, etc., then the previous mind would not apprehend. Form, etc., do not appear as the essence of the previous, because the aspect abiding in the present mind appears only as present. The mind that is its own nature is the very object to be grasped, and is the one who grasps form. The mind of mind is not like that, because the mind of mind does not have a mind that grasps. If the mind of mind also grasps at that time, then if that is so, then something other than that must also be grasped, so it will become endless. If it becomes like that, then everything will become ungrasped. If at that time the mind of mind is not grasped, then if that is so, then the grasped that enters into it will also be grasped. The mind of mind will grasp whatever appears immediately after it, but not those before it. If one wants the mind immediately after the first mind to also have the arising of mind, then if that is so, then it will be explained that the mind of form, etc., will not be apprehended without interruption. If that is the case, then mind arises as a single continuum, and immediately after that, a single mind arises that grasps all previous minds. If that is so, then all minds will not be understood as having order,
