Thus it is. Why is it so, it is explained. In the pervasion of seeing as one, one will not see it as something contradictory. Therefore, the general dharma is different from other dharmas, because there is no consciousness of different entities. Why are the particulars not in accordance with the place and time? Why is it not the same as the direct perception of that entity or seen by others? Because it does not exist when it dwells in a different time. Direct perception is to understand the object that is cut off in its own time. Therefore, the former is not direct perception for the latter, and the latter is not for the former. If recognition holds that 'that is this,' thus holding the former and the latter, then it is not so. Because recognition is not direct perception, because there is no function of the senses in it. Like this, the object that is suitable for the senses dwells, it is not the future, past, and present. The consciousness that relies on it does not arise in other times either. Sense consciousness does not universally grasp place and time, if it were so, then everything would become endowed with seeing all aspects. If the senses do not enter into past objects, then what contradiction is there in the consciousness that relies on it? If the consciousness that relies on it enters into the past, then the eye will also enter, but the eye does not enter into others. In holding the former and the latter, there is no distinction in the function of the eye, because memory and conditioned inference enter into the former and the latter. If that entity is what the senses enter into, then inference will also become the fault of being direct perception, and it will be declared. Therefore, particulars are not those that follow. Is the general dharma that is grasped by the senses the one that follows? This is not true, why? Therefore, the general dharma is different from other dharmas, because there is no consciousness of different entities. Particulars are not those that follow, and the general dharma is not either, because it is of the nature of non-existence. If particulars exist, then they are not those that follow. The general dharma is not the one that follows, but because it is non-existent, because it is not seen, it is impossible for the one that follows, which is grasped by the senses. Here, the general dharma is not apparent, because there is no appearance of other aspects. It is not different.

That is clarity itself, and it is not something that follows. Therefore, since it cannot be said to be different or non-different, it is also not existent. Therefore, the intellect born from the senses, all have particularity as their object. For particularities, the application of sounds is not possible. Since particularities have no following, the application of terms is impossible. For appearances without following, there is no general nature. Sounds are also not applied to particularities, because there is no following, so terms cannot be applied. Terms are intended for the purpose of applying names by those who name things in different places and times; if it were not so, it would become attachment. If it is said to be for the sake of the Dharma, who would believe it? Therefore, for things that are definite in different places and times, there is no application of terms. Therefore, particularity is not the object of sound. The object of sounds is also that very thing, and it is to those things that correct combination is applied. That which combines correctly is not particularity. Therefore, the knowledge that apprehends particularity is not accompanied by concepts, and whatever is accompanied by concepts does not apprehend particularity, because it is combined with the generality of sound. Why is this said? Whatever is the object of sounds, that itself combines with them. Therefore, particularity is not apprehended after combination, therefore, the knowledge that apprehends particularity is not accompanied by concepts. Whatever is accompanied by discrimination is also what apprehends particularity, because it is combined with the general sound. Why? Because it is said that 'this of' refers to relation. Whatever is the appearance of meaning, those themselves are the relation, that is not the object of the senses. Even if the meaning is seen, that is the expresser of this, and this is what is to be expressed of this, thus establishing the relation of the characteristics of the expresser and what is to be expressed. That is not the object of the senses. Why? What is the meaning of 'this is what is to be expressed of this'? It is that this is to be understood from this. By what is it to be understood? Is it by discrimination accompanied by hidden meaning, or by manifest
