Thus it is understood. When there is understanding, at that time there is no destruction, and when there is destruction, at that time it is also not destruction. Because of not understanding, therefore it is destruction. If it is not like that, if there is understanding, then what is the meaning of destruction? If non-appearance is destruction, then in the distance, because the pot does not appear, that will also become destruction. If it is said that what was seen before but does not appear is destruction, that is only what was seen before. If it is said that in the place where it is seen, at that time non-appearance is destruction, at that time there is appearance, and at that time there is non-appearance, this is contradictory. If it is said that in the immediately following other time there is non-appearance, then the place of offering in between, in another time there is non-appearance, how is it not destruction? If not seeing in another time is destruction, then it will be remembered as the thing itself. Therefore, inference only establishes mere terms, not others. If it is said that from the reason of the effect, it does not establish the non-establishment of things such as fire itself, but establishes mere terms, is it not so? That is also unreasonable, if that also through inference, completely establishes things, then everything will be established, for that itself, other valid cognitions will not enter. If inference establishes the things themselves such as fire, then at that time, wanting to know what kind of fire that is, wanting to know the internal differences, other valid cognitions such as direct perception will not enter, because inference itself has already established all its aspects beforehand. Are there not three kinds of situations: existence, non-existence, and contradiction with valid cognition? The arising of an effect from a feasible cause is called existence. Without a cause, an effect will not arise, this is called non-existence. Contradiction with valid cognition is like saying that fire is cold. Among them, direct perception holds all aspects, this is called existence, inference holds non-existence and contradiction with valid cognition, therefore other valid cognitions will enter, if you say so. This is a way of acting out of ignorance, like this, non-existence and contradiction, from where do they hold things? If it is holding things, then these two are not reasonable. If it holds all aspects

Because it is impossible, and because it contradicts the entry of other valid cognitions, if one abandons the aspect that is not different from it, then, at that time, even the grasping of the object itself will not be, because at that time, grasping that itself and not grasping it is unreasonable. Similarly, saying that that consciousness is the grasper itself, and is also the non-grasper, is also absolutely impossible. If one thinks like this: because of delusion, all aspects as signs are not the cause of grasping. Because there is no delusion regarding universals, therefore, differences cannot be well established. If one thinks that the sign by which all appearances are grasped in common is uncertain for the appearances that are determined individually. If that is the case: because the reason itself is uncertain, it is not possible to grasp differences by the power of the sign, then how does one grasp the object? If one does not know what fire is here, but follows the experience of having seen many fires before, saying that there is some fire here, then merely knowing this much about fire is only inference, but it is not touching the object itself. If one directly touches the object, how can one doubt the difference? If one doubts, how can one obtain it? If one says that obtaining is also in accordance with doubt, because sometimes one obtains some fire. Therefore, for the reason of the effect, it is only establishing a mere term, not the object itself. For the reason of nature, because one sees the object, one can obtain it, then, for the reason of the effect, how can one obtain it without seeing the object? The meaning is that it is only seeing itself, which exists at all times of obtaining or not obtaining, and even if one obtains that object through delusion, it will cause those who seek that object to enter. For those who have seen things like hair, why have they not seen other places? If one says that it does not pervade other times, then how can it exist in other places? If one says that it is impossible to pervade other places at all, therefore it itself will not perish, then it is also impossible not to pervade other times, so how does it perish? Even if one has not seen it in other places, is it not seen in other places? If one says how does it perish? Then, since it is also seen in other places and other times, how does it perish? If one says that because it has already been seen at other times, then this is the same for both. Therefore
