Says. The very nature of consciousness is not a valid cognition. Because it abides in relation to the nature of what is to be obtained. Moreover, it has already been shown that it is not what is grasped. Therefore, there is no entering or returning, it is only the self-nature consciousness itself. There is no occasion to speak of it as different. Therefore, those who possess realization should not enter into something, nor should they return from something. Well, how does one distinguish between valid and invalid cognition? From the perspective of convention, it is valid cognition. This is a conventionalist. It has been shown. Even convention, when analyzed, is destroyed. If one is completely satisfied with just this, then because there is nothing at all to do, there is liberation from samsara. That is because it has no basis. However, if samsara is established in convention, then, since there is also a distinction between valid cognition and the other, there is no need to strive to establish valid cognition itself. Furthermore, since the valid cognition of the conventionalist is what realizes, in the ultimate sense it is only the direct perception of one's own consciousness. Thus, if valid cognition itself, from direct perception and inference, wants to be established without doubt, then the words of convention will become meaningless. If it is clearly established as valid cognition itself from direct perception and inference, why say from convention? Therefore, relying on inference that is well-established only in convention, relying on the established relationship, establishing the function by seeing that this is what it does, entering from the realization established by touch, etc., and later, from habituation, even without inference, it enters only from appearance, therefore direct perception also causes entry, so it is said to be valid cognition itself. Therefore, it is said that from convention it is valid cognition. If by seeing, only form is apprehended, then it is not touch. Similarly, it is the present, then it is not the future to be obtained. Similarly, it is what one should see oneself, then it is not what others should see, is it not? If when he sees, he obtains by him, how is it valid cognition itself? To this, it has already been said that the self-nature is from the self.

Furthermore, because in terms of designation it is one, therefore, validity itself exists in various forms. Because there is no difference in place, etc., designations are applied to a single substance. This has already been explained, that it is validity in terms of designation. Therefore, because of clinging to what is seen based on just one part of the establishment of designation, thinking that it is what is obtained, it is a designation of validity itself. That clinging to one is also because places, times, etc., are not different. That non-difference is also from the assembly that produces the power there. Similarly, those that arise and will arise are also understood as being in the same continuum, having the same function, and from that, they are also manifestly conceived as one. If validity is the very act of obtaining the function, then is validity the knower of the function, or is it the agent? For the time being, the agent itself is not validity, because at that time it would become the cause. But if it is asserted that the knower itself is validity, that is also not reasonable, because there is doubt about what is to be done, so that is not a knower. Because what is to be done is sometimes so and sometimes not, from where does its knower come? Even without the knowledge that establishes it, the function is seen, so how is that the cause of the function? Since it does not arise even without it, it is not the cause of the result. Nor is it the knower, because even when seeing things, there is sometimes no function. That knowledge is also not non-valid, because it does not make things empty. Therefore, since there is neither the agent itself nor the knower itself, how does validity obtain through things? To this it is said: Because there is doubt about the result, just because of that, it is not validity. Because this itself is certain, just because of that, how is it not validity? Doubting what arises from the method is not wanting to abandon it, because in all cases, it is entered into just by ascertaining the method. Therefore, if the method is certain, is it the case that those with validity enter, like farmers and so on? That is not so, because it is said as follows: All the entering and returning of individuals is because of seeking what arises from the method. If there is doubt about that, then how is it validity? If for what purpose is the validity desired?
