From either perspective, attainment is related to connection. If the self-nature of what is to be attained cannot be grasped, then apart from it, whether grasping one's own nature or grasping the nature of others is easy, there is no difference. It is like the jewel itself that appears as a jewel and the light of the jewel. Among them, some are confused about the object, some are confused about their own nature, some are confused about both, and some are neither. For example, mistaking the light of a jewel for a jewel is confusion about the object. Knowing the jewel itself as a jewel is confusion about the self-nature of what is to be attained. Inferring through generality is confusion about both. Self-awareness is not like either of these, this is the way to distinguish. Therefore, as it is said, whatever is realized is only through one's own nature, like the realization of direct perception. Whatever is valid cognition is not delusion, like direct perception. Saying this is not reasonable, because direct perception is not realized through its own nature, and the absence of delusion is not unique to direct perception. Just as direct perception is deluded in its own nature, so is inference, and other consciousnesses that are considered deluded are also like that. Therefore, if it is established through non-delusion, then nothing else is needed. If that is the case, then how are the definitions of direct perception and inference distinguished? To this, it has been said that this is because the clarity of appearance is different. So, how does this difference in appearance arise? Whatever is grasped independently will appear clearly; whatever is not grasped independently will not appear clearly, it is trans-sensory, which is a synonym for hidden. Who said that? How does it arise? It is explained: For the wisdom that arises from the function of things, which has concomitance and opposition, the grasping of this is independent; other than that, it is trans-sensory. Whatever appears directly, its very nature is not trans-sensory. What appears directly also produces wisdom that follows concomitance and opposition, because it can produce the image of this wisdom. For that which, through the awakening of the habitual tendencies produced by previous seeing, determines the appearing object as the image of the nature of what was previously seen, then other than that, it is trans-sensory.

Yes. Regarding that, it is not the aspect of the functioning of the senses, nor is it the actual aspect of arising from it. If this aspect is not realized as reality itself? Other than its aspect, nothing else is realized from it. Therefore, whatever is realization is only reality, and whatever is not reality is only non-realization. However, if it becomes hidden because it is not related to the senses, then, because the senses have no function, the realization itself by its own nature will become hidden. That is not what is intended. If it is of a hidden object, if realization is not directly seen, since realization is not hidden, how can it be of a hidden object? If it is realized, then it is not hidden. Not touching the object itself is also not the object's realm. Then, if it is a general object, how can it be a hidden object? For that, the general is what is made manifest. Since there is no contact with the object, how can it be a hidden object of general knowledge? If it is said that the signified is realized by the signifying, then by what is the distinct nature realized? If it is by distinction, although it depends on realizing it from the sound itself, what is the use of the remaining generality in between? If it is signified as the nature of generality, then it will become endless, it is said. If it is signified by the nature of pervasiveness, then the collection of senses will also become meaningless. However, only what appears, and the difference is hidden, because it does not appear. Here too, what arises from the power of habit is the appearance of its own aspect as real, but the meaning is hidden. How is that the object itself? Because it is entered into. How does one enter into what is not realized? It has already been shown that one enters into what is completely not realized. Even though Lhasbyin (Devadatta) did not realize the nature, he sees the entry from seeing the similarity of offerings. If it is said that there is deception in that, it is not so, because it is not deceptive due to the connection, therefore explaining the cause of non-deception. If there is confusion due to the power of habit, then, since habit itself is related, is it the ascertainment of meaning? Is it the attainment?
