The nature of special attachment is not, it is merely the cutting off of what is near. If it is said that the unique special attachment is due to its subsequent conceptualization, that is not possible. Because inference is very much, in order to grasp its own nature. For what is grasped by what is near, other conceptualizations will exist. Just as the manifest conceptualization that grasps only what is near, such as form, if it is transformed into a unique special attachment by other conceptualizations and takes effect, similarly, inference is also in order to grasp its own nature, that is, what is near itself becomes more clear. There, too, there will be other conceptualizations that take effect from special attachment. However, inference is not a valid cognition because its own nature is the nature of special attachment, it neither takes effect nor touches the object. If it is said that manifest cognition is a valid cognition because it touches the object itself, that is also not possible. Merely touching the object, manifest cognition does not take effect. If there is no attachment to the unique object that is about to arise, then by whatever nature touches the nature of the object, it is not a valid cognition, because it does not take effect. If it is said that that nature will generate conceptualization and take effect, then by what does manifest cognition have the effect of taking effect? Is it itself taking effect? If so, then what is the meaning of the word "taking effect"? If conceptualization takes effect, how can it not grasp the object? Even if it is so, it takes effect, why not think of inference in this way as well? If manifest cognition takes effect through generating conceptualization, then in order to take effect, conceptualization itself will become a valid cognition. If so, then it is undeniable that inference is a valid cognition. If it is said that inference is not a valid cognition because it does not grasp the object and does not take effect, then what about the subsequent conceptualization of manifest cognition? There, too, it is because manifest cognition grasps the object.

No, it is not. Because it (referring to direct perception) is not allowed for the arising of conceptual thought. If it is said that it is only entering because it has entered its continuum, then how is the first moment a continuum? Entering others will not become entering others. If it is thought so, then inference will also become entering the meaning because it has entered its own nature. That is merely a designation, and if it is said that it is not in the ultimate truth, then this answer is also incorrect, because the direct perception entering others is also not other than designation. If it is said that direct perception enters its own kind, but inference does not enter it, this is contradictory, because the conceptual thought that arises after direct perception does not enter its own kind. If the answer is that direct perception has entered it, then this is also the same for inference, because the direct perception has entered the same kind as the object of inference. For the cause of the kitchen fire, direct perception is the only thing that enters. If it is said that the object of inference does not have it, then everything is the same. Like this: How can direct perception not enter the object of inference? Is it not the same for the conceptual thought that arises after direct perception? If the clear direct perception that generates inference enters another, does the direct perception that generates that conceptual thought not enter its own nature? The attachment to one particular thing is the same for both. The general characteristic is also apprehended by both, and there, things like fire that can be obtained, the things that are to be conceptually analyzed, are the objects of the senses. When taking another, is it not already decided that it is not taking another? When taking something related to it, if it is said that it is also taking that, then in inference also, at all times, holding the relationship is the same. In conceptual thought, the cause is seen, and in inference, the result is seen. Just as the direct perception does not enter the object that arises after direct perception, but because it enters its cause, it allows conceptual thought to enter, thereby establishing it as a valid cognition, similarly, although the object of inference is not entered, inference is also established as a valid cognition because it enters its result, because the relationship is not different. The relationship between cause and effect is the same for both. From cause comes effect.
