There is nothing that needs to be particularly clarified. More important than grammarians, one should not blindly follow the views of other sects. If we think that our own view is the only correct one, that is not right. If each category cannot clarify, then it should be clarified through the universal, because there is no other way. If it can be clarified through habit, then habit itself is the inner cause, so knowledge is not produced by the power of the object. Similarly, it should be said of knowledge that has distinction. As it is said: Having number, etc., and the self-nature of having number, the self-nature that is different from expression, does not appear in the mind. If it is said that "not being able to accomplish a purpose" is not the definition of a universal, then hair, etc., cannot accomplish a purpose, so it should also be a universal, which is not right. As follows: Hair, etc., are not universals, because they do not cling to purpose. Because it is considered knowable, there will be no fault. When the meaning of self-nature is understood as the nature of the universal through its own characteristics, then it is a universal. If this is its own characteristic, then how can it be a universal because it can accomplish a purpose? Because a universal is something that cannot accomplish a purpose. How can something that cannot accomplish a purpose become a meaning? Because accomplishing a purpose itself is the meaning. Accomplishing a purpose and not accomplishing a purpose, the two cannot exist in the same thing. This is not difficult to understand, because: Directly unable to accomplish a purpose, but able to through indirect means. That is the universal and the meaning, and the able and the unable. The universal is meaning because it clings to meaning, but ultimately it is meaningless. This meaning itself is proximate, because it is the result of indirect meaning. Then, how is the realm of sound a universal? For example, there is a pile of hail on the riverbank, which cannot accomplish a purpose even indirectly. It is not like that, even if that is not a universal, we have no fault, because by proving that sound is not valid cognition, it will become very perfect.

As such, the general characteristic is what we consider to be the domain of valid cognition. If that is also the domain of valid cognition, then sound becomes valid cognition. So how is it said that the domain of sound is the general characteristic? It is not the case that only the general characteristic is the domain of sound. What then? The general characteristic is the domain of sound, but there is nothing that is not a domain. The domain of sound itself represents the aspect of following. Similarly, the self-nature of what is not a domain, such as hair, etc., becoming self-nature is not the case. Because some sounds are not domains, they are self-nature. Here too, it is not that only self-nature is not a domain, but rather self-nature is only not a domain. Not being the domain of sound, the knowledge that possesses domains such as sound is not valid cognition. Like this: Valid cognition is unfailing, Knowledge is the characteristic of the general. Through the distinction of domains, Thereby establishing its difference. Its domain itself is different, Is considered to be what is to be established. Therefore, not being the domain of valid cognition, How can it become a domain? If things themselves are the general characteristic, then non-things will not become the general characteristic, because they are empty of meaning. That is also not a non-domain, because it is the domain of the unseen. It is also the nature of the general characteristic, because it pervades differences such as not existing before and not existing after destruction. Because that pervades not existing at first and not existing in that way, it is said: The answer to this is, because it is apprehended as knowable. Non-things also become knowable in some way. The thing itself of another is a non-thing, this is an established tenet, and that is only doing meaningful things. Or, that is also what should be completely determined by valid cognition. Because there is a need, it is also an ability. Non-things also become a need, because it is for the sake of walking without doubt. Therefore, because there is meaningful intention for this, non-things are only meaningful in their own nature. Hair, etc., are not, because they are completely considered to be mistaken knowables. If
