If it is said that liberation is attained when there is no karma, as it is said: liberation is attained through the exhaustion of karma. If that is said, that is not the case. Like this: It is not abandoning karma and body, because the antidote does not exist, because there is no ability, if craving exists, it will arise again. Other than eliminating craving, there is no other antidote to karma and body. The rituals of empowerment and so on have already been explained. Scripture is also not a valid measure. Being associated with craving is not the path, attachment and hatred and so on will naturally arise from it. Even if one strives to exhaust both, it is useless to exhaust karma. If one wants to exhaust both, then only eliminating craving will do. Then, isn't karma also something to be eliminated? No, because the antidote is non-craving, it has already been explained. Like this: Because the fruits are various, karma and abilities are also different, through inference it is known that austerity itself cannot exhaust a single affliction. Karma, which is the nature of manifesting the ability to accomplish various fruits, in any case, merely enjoying one kind of fruit cannot exhaust it. The characteristic of affliction of austerity is also one kind of fruit, therefore, it is not reasonable to exhaust it through that. Because, through various ways, the fruit it produces will become smaller, because there are different kinds of causes and conditions. Because of experiencing a part of the fruit, the fruit produced by that karma itself will decrease, but the fruit that is not the same as it will not decrease. If austerity has the ability, through exhausting the mixed ability, some afflictions will be abandoned in part, or completely without afflictions, all abandoned. Regarding this, there is also a saying: If austerity is other than affliction, meaning affliction itself, then, this is karmic fruit, therefore, this will not change the mixing of abilities and so on. If austerity is different from affliction, then, it itself is exhausted from karma, what use are the afflictions of the five sufferings and so on? Karma is not all

Then it will be exhausted by itself. By doing it for others, one cannot understand the abilities of others. Afflictions themselves are not asceticism, because they are the result of karma. The result of karma itself is also not asceticism, because animals and the like that practice hot and cold behaviors would also become ascetics. However, that is not the result of karma, because it is entered into by desire. If it is said that the result of karma will occur even without desire, that is also unreasonable. With the desire for kingship and the like, is it not the attainment of karmic results? Consciousness relies on karma and operates, and there is such karma. If that is not the result of karma, then how do you say that enjoying the result will exhaust it? Therefore, that is the result of karma. Therefore, only sins will be exhausted, not the karma of kingship and the like, therefore, kingship and the like must also be enjoyed. However, kingship and the like generate desire for desire and the like themselves, while the suffering of hell and the like comes involuntarily, therefore it must be enjoyed, therefore one desires suffering? If that is the case, then the suffering of hell must also be enjoyed. However, both of those are suffering. Suffering alone will exhaust it, if it is said that hell and the like will be exhausted by pulling out hair, that is also incorrect. Because this measure also does not exist, because suffering is the cause of the exhaustion of karma, like the suffering of animals. If this is uncertain, then what you said does not exist? Furthermore, just as kingship is a thing of happiness, it does not harm those without desire, similarly, being accustomed to the suffering of hell does not harm it. Due to the power of habit, happiness and suffering and the like in the world will change. Therefore, in this place of liberation, there is no happiness and suffering and the like. However, there is karma, because you have committed to striving for the exhaustion of karma, therefore will it be harmed by the commitment? That is not the case, like this. In order to destroy the faults of the desire for birth, whatever prevents faults will generate power for certain karma, what

As such, the doer is destroyed. The karma of what has been done is not destroyed. The karma of the doer is not destroyed. If so, how is it said that karma is exhausted? Here it is said: If there is another combination, and the karma that gives fruit, if there is opposition, then it is not. That karma is just that. Whatever is able to produce fruit without consuming, it is only without consuming that it produces fruit. The meaning of this is that those who are truly capable do not manifest, because they shine with power. Because desire and so on are exhausted, the future fruit of desire is the change of exhaustion. The karma of things that have been done is not to be enjoyed without consuming. If karma remains as desire dwells, and karma also arises, then if there is karma, will desire not arise again? That is not so. Thus, karma is not a fault. It is not because of the lack of defects that it does not turn. Without wrong thoughts, desire for happiness will not arise. If there is desire, then one acts for the sake of fruit. It is not so. If there is no desire, then one does nothing. However, since good karma is able to produce, will one desire happiness without consuming? That is not so. In the true sense, there is no happiness in samsara. However, it is wrong
