If the nature of before and after, etc., is not separate, hence it is one, even though it is clearly seen as separate, how do you desire it to be non-separate? If it is not gradually separate, then likewise, separation is also, because of that separation and non-separation, how can the nature of both be present here at once? It will be seen as such. That which exists without sequence is not in things that have sequence. If the nature of before and after is not understood, then it is not desired to be pervasive. If it is pervasive sequentially, then that itself does not become pervasive. It is not reasonable to see that one and not see it. At that time, it is difficult to be reasonable to see it and not see it. All the differences of time are seen as without incongruity. Because this is one, it is only one time, how can it become different times? If one grasps again and again, then one will grasp what has already been grasped. What is grasped as 'grasping' becomes memory. Since memory is not valid, it is not possible to grasp sequentially. What transforms into direct perception, if it is not understood, then it is not that thing. If it exists at that time, without being understood by the previous mind, since there is no difference, how can this distinction of it be valid? If there is no seeing in it, therefore at all times now, by what is the previous and subsequent thing of it understood? If it is from the knowledge of before and after, then how is the difference understood from those? If it is from self-awareness of things, then in that, the two natures will not be understood. Without before and after, it cannot be understood by that. If the experiences of before and after are one, if they are one, then since they are already manifest, how do they become before and after? That which is being manifested does not become before and after. If it is not the former, how is it understood as the former? This understanding of non-understanding is not the manifestor. If this is the memory of that, when that is not there, if memory itself is seen, how is it said to be 'of that'? From the things of cause and effect, it is not grasped only by that. The meaning is the manifestor, it is the object to be grasped, not from reversal. Because it is interrupted by experience, memory from meaning is not real. Experience

The former, not holding the former itself, the latter not. Therefore, from memory itself, it is not established as the former. That which has passed, having been done before, is called the former thing. If future things are made manifest, they are the place of knowing the future. However, if it is desired to say that whatever has the characteristic of showing arising and ceasing exists, those things do not exist, because they do not accord with reality. When does it perish? How is it understood to exist at that time? If it is understood to have existed before, how does it perish at that time? If this mind is firm, how is it understood to exist if it does not exist? Everything is from understanding, so how does it exist elsewhere? Therefore, permanent and impermanent things do not exist anywhere. A permanent thing or an impermanent thing, only one is definitely possible. Now, in the side of the path, it is said to show the fourth aspect of cessation. If the path that has been spoken of is practiced, if the dwelling changes, if it is said that the self changes, will the fault arise like the path? No, because there is no ability. As previously said, by practicing this path, the stream of the dwelling mind, or the alaya consciousness, becomes completely pure. When the selflessness, which is contrary to the grasping of self and what belongs to self, is transformed into that self, then it is separated from all faults. If, like one with faults, it is transformed into one with virtues, and one with virtues is also transformed into one with faults, is there no definite liberation from samsara? No, because all faults are destroyed by having virtues. How does the opposite not change? Because virtues are the nature of things, and faults are the opposite of that. What is that like? It is said: Consciousness is the dharma of grasping objects. How does it exist? It is said that it is the nature of grasping and having, and it is also the cause of its arising. Consciousness is the entrance to the path of all beings. Whatever is transformed into consciousness, its nature is that of grasping objects. Consciousness is not transformed into non-knowing, because there is no such thing for those who are non-knowing. As it exists, so it is, it is the object to be grasped and the cause of arising. Able to discriminate.
