If the nature of consciousness does not change in this way, it will also become the nature of realization. Therefore, it should be understood that here, attention is also a combination. Because of the certainty of the object arising from the eye, and the appearance of the aspect that is clear from the object, and relying only on the attention of the discriminating consciousness, therefore, the nature of the opposite of the nature of realization arises. Therefore, it should be understood that the combination of the eye and form can also produce (the opposite of the nature of realization). If this is the case, then what is the opposite of this? This is the difference in the combination of this and that. If the opposite things themselves do not exist, then how can they be the result? Who would say that what is held by the opposite discriminating consciousness is the result? However, what is born from many causes, and becomes a thing with its own characteristics, is born only relying on the opposite imputation, and if that is the case, then it itself is the result. Although there is much to say about this, let it be put aside for now. Therefore, it is said that there is no following of the previous consciousness, and if it follows, it will not be clear. If this is the case, then the latter consciousness, which is not clear, is clear before, because the clear consciousness is the result, so it is uncertain. To this, it is said that what arises later is from the consciousness being separated from its power, and from this arises the later consciousness. By combining the later consciousness with following, it will become like that. Following the previous is also following the later consciousness. This is its cause and effect, whatever follows and does not follow is the cause, and whatever is followed is the result. It is combined by counter-example, that is, it will not arise if it is separated from seeds etc., and it will arise if it is not separated. Like the fruit of seeds etc., for the fruit to be proven, for things and causes, this is an example to be understood, that is, the fruit of seeds etc.

Saying "like seeds, etc.," it actually means that seeds, etc., are the cause. That which does not produce is also it, and the nature of the final stage is also it, and there is no difference from this, which is the fifth collection with a common basis. If it is said, "The body is of the mind," etc., this is to welcome the doubt of others' views. If it is said, "If that is so," etc., this is to answer. Here, the mind is a limb outside the body, and the final body is the cause of the later body, thus two are spoken of. Therefore, for both of these situations, it is also to welcome the doubt of refutation, that is, "its limb and cause" is a distinction. Separately, from the cause of the mind's existence, it is explained by "the object of this," etc. Characteristic refers to the characteristic of being invisible. Thus, there is no contradiction in existing temporarily, which means that there is no contradiction in the existence of other final bodies, because there is no harmful valid cognition. In order to show that there is also an establisher. After this, it is said, "From this, the final five aggregates are merely the cause," etc. "From this" means only from this place where there is no contradiction. Because there is no difference in nature, it is thought that because it is momentary, the former and latter five aggregates are one. Saying "In the example, the subject is not established" means that the aggregate of the previous moment is the subject of the example, and if the five aggregates are also one, then from the aspect of what is to be established, there is no other subject existing in a different way, because for one, there is no before and after. Saying "What is said in other places is also" means what is said in the first chapter of this book and in the Pramāṇaviniścaya, etc. Other than that, it is to manifest that it is not momentary from the senses. Saying "For the nature of otherness, the reason is not explained in detail" means that because many reasons have already been explained in other aspects. Here, the author of the treatise, for the nature of otherness to be established, did not explain in detail the reason of "because change is seen," but only pointed out this point, without explaining it in detail, that is the meaning.
