That which is non-existent is called that. If asked how to become accustomed to that, it is mentioned starting from being attached to merits, etc., because some people become accustomed to it by being attached to merits, so they will strive for habituation. Since the noble ones consider compassion to be a particularly excellent merit, therefore, from being attached to merits, one will enter into compassion. What is called 'from the difference of sentient beings' is from the difference of nature, some people, no matter what kind they belong to, will also suffer from the suffering of others. This explains the power of the cause. The power of the condition is mentioned starting from others, etc., it is done by Bodhisattvas who are accustomed to compassion, that is, they are definitely in accordance with compassion. What is called 'approaching it' means that even if they are not definitely in accordance, but live together with those who engage in the benefit of others, they become virtuous from approaching them. What is called 'from self-desire' is not done by them or approached, but one desires compassion oneself. If asked what is the difference between being attached to merits and this? It should be said that there, one enters knowing that it is a merit, but here, without relying on the result, one desires compassion by its very nature. Through those causes, compassion becomes habitual, even after death. Perfection means the perfection of growth. If the mind relies on the body, etc., this is to establish the previous view of the materialists. Some people think that the mind is another thing that comes from arising, and some people think that it is not another thing. Among them, there are two aspects of thinking that it is another thing: the mind is the result of all the merits of the body, or thinking that it is not another thing, it is the ability of the nature of the body that has become the nature of the four great elements. As it is said: earth, water, fire, and wind. This is indeed the case, and they say that the mind arises from those things like the ability of intoxication. These three treatises explain precisely from the fact that the mind is the merit of the body. The mind is merit itself, the result itself, and also the ability.

In relation to itself, it is nominally referred to as a body with qualities, etc., in order. The so-called Dharma with the characteristic of intelligence is merit. The so-called saying that, if intelligence depends on the body, then habit will not be established, is the saying of the worldly Lokayatas. Even at the time of death, they do not want the continuum of the elements to be completely destroyed, because they assert transformation, and there would be a fault if the dead body did not appear. Moreover, if there is transformation, then beings would have no difference, and there would also be a fault. So, what do you want? However, like this saying, the so-called mind with action is the manifest mind. The so-called due to contrary causes is due to causes such as poison and weapons. The so-called mind that is not manifest is the non-manifest mind. Changing from the state of living to another state can be called death. Again, like what kind of condition, etc., this shows that the continuum of conditioned phenomena will not be cut off. Like what kind of condition, it refers to what is the condition that awakens in accordance with the mind. There are also two kinds of conditions for complete awakening: having the nature of cause and non-cause, and having the power of unobstructedness. The so-called mind with action has two meanings here: those from which the mind of action itself arises are called that, which is one meaning. Those who have the mind of action itself manifested, this is the second meaning. Among them, the first meaning of the mind with action refers to complete transformation, and the second meaning of action refers to obtaining complete transformation. Just as habit itself is also completely transformed, for the previously transformed love and wisdom, etc., through what kind of habit, will there be a difference in conditioned phenomena? Because in the previously transformed state, the habit of love and wisdom, etc., will follow the conditioned phenomena. Sleep and awakening, etc., will follow the conditioned phenomena.
