When using the word "elephant," it still belongs to that category, but it is not confused with the categories of cows and elephants. The reason for saying "because it walks, it is called a cow" is that in the expression, the word "cow" itself is very famous. Similarly, the word "elephant" is also like that. This explains the situation where the sound is not confused. "The meaning that one wants to express" refers to being associated with walking and hands. The reason for confusion is that it also applies to animals without horns. The so-called "wanting to express that meaning," etc., refers to wanting to express the meaning of walking, etc., so the words like "cow" are combined. Even in the case of no confusion, it means that even if it is determined by fame, the sound is not confused, even so, the sound is not the reason. Then what is it? It is the meaning itself, that is, having the characteristic of being associated with walking and hands. But this is also a confusion, because it also applies to dissimilar aspects. That kind of situation is cows, etc. The so-called "that kind of situation" refers to the situation where one wants to express the meaning of walking, etc. If the sounds of cows and elephants point to those special cows and elephants that have the characteristics of being associated with walking and hands, then the sound and meaning are similar, and because there is no confusion, it is the reason for understanding. If only being associated with walking and hands is the reason, then this also exists in humans. The sound that is fully combined with one's own reason will also apply to humans, so will the sound also be confused? Therefore, it is said "wanting to express," etc., wanting to express the commonality of walking, etc., not the particularity. The common characteristic of the meaning that one wants to express also exists in humans. Even so, the sound of a cow and the sound of an elephant also exist in humans. But the explainer does not think that there are sounds of cows, etc., in humans, because the objects themselves, such as cows, show the commonality of walking, etc. What one wants to express is that the commonality itself is the meaning of the sound, and if it also exists in other things, then its reason...

If it is said, how can the sound of 'cow' etc. be obtained if it is not applicable here? To this, it is mentioned 'that' etc. The names of cow and elephant, although not suitable for the general reason of going etc., are spoken that way because the speaker is not proficient in words. Even if the speaker speaks that way, the sound of 'cow' etc. will not become known as expressing the general concept of going etc. Therefore, even if other things like people follow that general concept, there is no confusion because the sound does not follow it. As it is said, although the sound is known to be meaningful in its particularity and can be generally applied, even if it cannot cover everything by the power of the general, the sound itself is not confused in that way, but the meaning desired by the explainer may be confused. When the measure (pramana) that obstructs the view that Ishvara is the creator is shown, it is said 'considered as cause', which refers to the case where even if it is not actually the creator, it is manifestly considered as the creator. 'The pervader is invisible' means that from the perspective of the non-creator, it is pervasive because of the difference. According to another view, it will also become not the creator in the same way. This way of showing the closeness of the nature of the pervaded and the pervader should be regarded as lacking the corresponding obstructive measure when refuting those who say 'the pervader is invisible'. The excellence that has become nature is the ability to produce results. 'Not obtained' means not found. The absence of result without cause is a refutation, because if it is constant, then Ishvara does not have this characteristic, so it cannot be refuted. If it is thought to change, then how can merely following it become the substance of cause and effect? To this, it is mentioned 'substance' etc. For this, other nearby substances will also cause doubt, and refutation will determine this. To this, it is mentioned 'however' etc. For example, smoke etc., which is considered as a result, is fire.
