If self-nature exists, it is not fire. However, it is not the self-nature of fire. How then does smoke arise from it? Smoke is not the self-nature of the cause. It possesses the special power of the cause. If smoke does not arise from the cause of smoke, then it becomes causeless. Thus it has been said. Specificity is also determined by habit, as it is said: For things like the image of a jewel, recognizing it through subsequent inference, it is unspeakable for other things that have not arisen (recognition). It will arise from habit itself. Thus it is said. Just as direct perception is the cause of the establishment of later valid cognition, so too is inference. Therefore, if someone says that because there is no exhaustion, there is no certainty in inferences, therefore it is said "for direct perception itself" and so on. The meaning of the first direct perception is its meaning. The object of the action of its meaning, which exists in which valid cognition, that is the valid cognition of the object of the action of its meaning. The later one is also the same, it is the object of the action of meaning, therefore, this is called the summary of specificity. Like this, through "if that is so" and so on, it eliminates the dependence of inference on the establishment of later valid cognition. The object of inference, impermanence and so on, whose self-nature exists in which sign, that is the one possessing its self-nature, that is, associated with the sign of being made and so on, or with the result, smoke and so on, it is the cause of the knowledge of the sign-possessor. Becoming like this is called non-thing, meaning separated from the thing that has become self-nature and the thing that has become result. Therefore, inference is not without exhaustion because it is established as valid cognition by itself. In other places, it refers to direct perception. Because there is no clear seer who is not accustomed, there is no certainty of specificity. This explains the situation of the initial establishment. At that time, it will also be established through doubt. If specificity can also be determined from habit, then in terms of meaning, direct perception also does not depend on the establishment of later valid cognition. If the initial non-deceptiveness must be recognized through the establishment of later valid cognition, then what is the use of recognizing it? That

At that time, it is not entering, because it is past. Indeed, at the time of entering, the effort to ascertain its own validity is not, however, through that which is ascertained by validity, with the distinct difference of the manifestation of its own kind, it becomes the meaning of being ascertained as the non-deceiver itself. If the subsequent manifestation is also, and so on, is an endless doubt, then what is the difference between it and the previous manifestation? It is said that it is not entering into things, but doubting. Just as the first knowledge of fire, even without fire, doubts entering, then, for the knowledge of burning and cooking, etc., is it like a dream, without fire, will the knowledge of burning and cooking, etc., arise? Or is there? Connect it like this. If for that, it is also necessary to rely on other non-deceivers, and for that also other, that is endless. If some knowledge itself considers itself non-deceptive, then the first will also become the same. As the youth Malena said: The first knowledge itself, if it depends on non-deception, then, one should also seek non-deception through non-deception itself. If in some cases, from oneself, it is considered validity itself, then, the first is such a thing, what reason is there to hate so much? Thus said. No, etc., is to answer. The two, refers to the manifestation of appearing as fire and burning, etc. Appearing as fire, even for non-things, it will enter, but appearing as burning, etc., it will not. Therefore, it is said that itself, that is, without fire, etc. That is the support of things, because the knowledge of the object of the function of producing burning and cooking, etc., is. When it arises, it is also the non-deceiver itself, if from becoming such an entrant, the meaning of entering as one wishes to manifest will also arise, then, that is the previous non-deceiver itself, that itself is validity, not error, is the meaning. Things are merely the cause of that, because it is the cause of the meaning of burning and cooking, etc., so it is fire.

I am the one who performs burning and cooking, and water is the one who performs bathing and drinking, etc. Because things have the nature of being able to function. If it is said that in dreams there are also cases where the objects as previously stated are not deceptive, then there is also the existence of things, which is superfluous, and even in the state of not being asleep, there is no other cause for establishing things. If it is said that the consciousness in dreams will become valid cognition, then because it is desired, there is no fault. If it is said, then why is it said that it is not valid cognition? Because there is the thought of being mistaken. Therefore, the direct perception with an object that can function, because there is no reason for confusion, has become the nature of valid cognition, and is completely determined by self-awareness. As it has been completely determined, it necessarily arises on it, so that oneself is valid cognition, therefore it is not endless. The consciousness that initially appears as fire and water, when there is no habituation, even if it is grasped by the valid cognition of one's own continuum, because there is a reason for confusion, it does not have the ability to generate certainty. Therefore, later valid cognition enters and establishes it as valid cognition. Thus, it becomes valid cognition from others. That is also from oneself when there is habituation and the petitioner is obtained, as previously stated. Therefore, in this way, direct perception is valid cognition for oneself and others, while inference is from oneself, and it abides in this. If it is said that the object previously taken later, etc., is refuted based on the momentariness. It is not, it is answered with not, etc. It is said that because it is the cause of recognizing one form, the world determines that the previous and later things are the same, and follows it to establish it in that way, because the establishment of valid cognition is merely nominal. If it is said that the ultimate truth of the previous and later valid cognitions are different objects, but this is superfluous, there is no fault as previously stated. Thus, in saying later, etc., if there is no object of the previous valid cognition, because there is not, this refers to the object of the previous valid cognition being the cause of the object of the later valid cognition.
