The so-called 'teaching' refers to the fact that it is unreasonable to accept any scripture if it does not clearly state the doctrine on which it is based. We believe that, for objects that we can discern, if a scripture contradicts what is seen by any person's valid cognition ( प्रमाण,pramāṇa, प्रमाण, cognition), or if it contradicts what is seen by valid cognition because it is harmful, then accepting such a scripture is unreasonable; this is the definition of 'teaching.' For example, the fire seen by ordinary people is capable of dispelling cold, that is, fire is the enemy of snow. This statement is part of the Vedas and is true. Using this as an example, they claim that all treatises with Vedic characteristics are true. Then, what kind of treatises? Even if it can be completely decisive, if its object can be known through valid cognition, then because it contradicts valid cognition, it is neither logical nor in accordance with valid cognition. Any debater, etc., who admits that such a treatise is true, then these debaters, etc., are like a prostitute conquered by a swindler. To illustrate the statement 'illogical,' 'person,' etc., are mentioned. The word 'declarer' should be applied to all situations. If it is said that 'there is a permanent person,' then this is a treatise that declares the permanent person. Similarly, this is also a treatise that declares the permanence of things. Beyond the senses, that is, not obvious. Can be grasped by the senses, that is, declaring obvious things. Similarly, this is also declaring that the cause of things has no contradiction, that is, illogical, and declaring that the existence of things is contradictory, and declaring that the change of things is contradictory. These will become clear in the commentary. As it is said, there are also other objects whose scope of action is clear. Those objects for which the scope of action, that is, the opportunity, is excluded and abandoned, are called 'that.' Then, through what scope of action is it excluded? 'Through two valid cognitions' is mentioned, that is, direct perception and subsequent

The so-called meaning of "having the ability to dispel disputes." It is the declaration of things becoming like that. Similarly, inference that relies on scriptural authority and contradictions are what can be declared. Therefore, like this, debaters declare many unreasonable treatises, yet boast of having true meaning, just like a prostitute wins with lies. If asked, what is it that they boast of without doing? The answer is, having said "that one" etc., for those who are able to analyze things, the treatise has not dispelled the contradictions, that is, there is no answer. The reason for a person to enter a treatise: Connection and accordance are what declare the meaning of a person, boasting of not having elucidated the meaning of a treatise with characteristics. Explaining with "person" etc., combine the words as: having an unchanging previous nature and a non-accepting subsequent nature. This explains the reason for understanding the meaning of sounds. Such a person, according to the order, is the doer of good and bad deeds, and such a person is the enjoyer of the fruits of karma. In what way are they the doer and the enjoyer? By the nature of the cause of aggregation and combination, and the nature of blessing. The word "etc." in "etc." indicates the nature of combination. Among them, the merit and non-merit arising from the mind, by their nature as the cause of aggregation and combination, are the doer, because they have the reason for gathering and possessing with the owner of wisdom. The actions of body and speech, by the nature of blessing, are the doer, because the body and speech blessed by oneself each tend to their own activities. When performing other activities, by the nature of the combiner, they enjoy the self of others. Similarly, for the fruits of karma, happiness and suffering etc., by the nature of the cause of aggregation and combination, they are the enjoyer, because happiness and suffering etc. are gathered and possessed with the self. The body and the one who accomplishes suffering, for the objects of manifest desire and non-desire, are deep by the nature of blessing.

How should it be reasonably combined? As it is said, because the statements of the debater, this and that, are unreasonable, the treatise was composed. Regarding permanent things, it has been shown that the entities of cause and effect cannot exist. One's own school has already explained its own treatises many times elsewhere. Some things themselves are unreasonable, and what the debater says, that should be combined in this way. Why is it unreasonable? Because things that are not momentary contradict doing things sequentially and simultaneously, therefore they are beyond the nature of things. Things are capable of functioning, and that which is capable of functioning, For things that are not momentary, it is impossible to exist, therefore it does not exist, then what is its nature, is it permanence, etc.? The terms such as generality, etc., which are not directly perceived, refer to actions and qualities, etc. The debater says that direct perception is real, and it should be combined with this, etc. Having a permanent person, the arising, abiding, and ceasing of things are contradictory, the debater says, and it should be combined with this, etc. Because arising is unreasonable, things contradict the cause, as it is declared. In order to clarify the contradiction with the cause, it is said especially, etc. Especially, there is nothing to be done, because it is permanent. Before, in the case of not being the time to do, not being the doer, afterwards relying on others, that is, relying on doing together, the debater says that it is the doer. This and that are unreasonable, it has been shown to be the Buddha's teaching, and it will also become the one who shows it. Because it has been established, etc., the debater says that it is stating the contradiction of abiding. Because the reason established from one's own cause is not the nature of the result, because what has already been established cannot be established again. The debater says that such a thing abides depending on the support. This and that are unreasonable, because it is established without relying on everything, so it is impossible to abide relying on the power of others. That has also been said before. In order to show the contradiction of destruction, from the cause
