If there is knowledge that does not rely on scripture, then, for knowledge, if there is no scripture, then combine the words. When that is the case, some knowledge of objects beyond the senses, that exists, that is the manifestation of self. If someone is a diviner of kings, or someone else is an explainer of the meaning of the Vedas, then just like knowledge that does not rely on scripture, just like unobscured hidden things, wanting to know about heavens etc., then, seeing objects beyond the senses, just like diviners of kings etc., it will also be thought that other people exist. If it changes like that, then knowing and showing objects beyond the senses through direct perception, if that is the case, it will not be thought that its object knowledge is diviners of kings etc., however, if it is through inference, then, who will be blamed for this? That is not, if objects beyond the senses are seen through direct perception, then, it will enter the previously existing inference. Why? Because the previously existing direct perception etc. are quantities, because it has not been seen, so it is impossible for objects beyond the senses not to be seen through direct perception. Named direct perception etc., now make it manifest, because direct perception does not apply to those objects beyond the senses. Because other quantities of previously existing direct perception are impossible. That is not pointed to, it should be understood as not the basis of cognition pointed to by direct perception etc. It means that anything that is not an object of direct perception etc. In order to understand it, that is, in order to determine, seek scripture from the depths of the heart. Inference etc. other quantities apply to objects beyond the senses, therefore, the direct perception of objects beyond the senses is established and guided, because there is no application of direct perception, other quantities are not applicable. If through reason, those outstanding people, that is, seeing objects beyond the senses, those debaters will not refute.

If it transforms, it is also a reversal. Therefore, other valid cognitions are not applicable to objects beyond the senses. Precisely because no other valid cognitions are applicable, the scriptures, regarding things like heavens that are characterized as being beyond the senses, the application of saying 'this word applies to this thing' is uncertain. These people, such as the king's diviner or other hermits, cannot understand the meaning of the scriptures themselves without relying on the instructions of others. Why? Because they possess attachment and so on, or rather, those who possess attachment and so on are themselves the very source of not understanding. Then, do they understand from the instructions of others? Having said 'from others,' the meaning of the scriptures is not understood from others either, because those other people also possess attachment and so on. It is wrong to say that the scriptures themselves can understand the desired meaning, because the scriptures cannot understand; if they cannot understand, then from where is the meaning of the scriptures understood? They cannot clearly explain the meaning themselves. It is explained by 'faults' and so on, confusion is complete bewilderment. Faults are attachment and so on. Confusion caused by faults is the confusion of faults. The words are combined in this way: 'for that which has not gone beyond the confusion of faults.' The scriptures, regarding the distinct determination of the differences of things beyond the senses, it is not possible to understand that one thinks 'this is the meaning of this, this is not.' For those who possess attachment and so on, it is impossible for others to understand the meaning of the scriptures, because the same fault would occur for those others as well, because they also do not understand due to possessing attachment and so on. The meaning is that one who does not understand oneself cannot show it to others, because one does not know the path oneself. It is like a blind person being led by a blind person, the blind person cannot understand the path. The scripturalists themselves, without relying on the teachings, cannot clearly explain their own meaning. Why? Because that would lead to the teachings becoming meaningless.
