Question: Why say "because of that"? Answer: Therefore, it is said "following reasoning," etc. The so-called "self is established in another order" is quoted from the sutra section "for accomplishment." The so-called "the former two selves" means that it should be observed here. The explanation of "memory, etc." is the essence, that is, the nature of memory, etc. The word "etc." takes the essence of manifest desire, etc. The so-called "indicating that the knowledge of the pot, etc., of memory is the cause" is to establish the words as "the cause of the knowledge of the pot, etc." Contradictory to direct perception is non-direct perception itself. Its pervasion is produced by the power of memory experienced before, so that all that is contradictory becomes the object. The so-called "should be known as distinction" means that for the general statement "direct perception is free from conceptualization," a distinction is made, and that realm is completely abandoned, so that the general statement can be established, and thus the knowledge that is free from conceptualization and without confusion is direct perception, which is shown in meaning. Through this intention, it should be known that the characteristic is incomplete, as it is declared. The so-called "not born from the sense, but only mind" is to say that it is a synonym for conceptualization. In this way, just by saying free from conceptualization, the words of distinction are useless because the knowledge of the second moon, etc., is clear. The so-called "what appears to what is known" refers to form, etc. These are timely for that. The so-called "how does saying relying on the sense become contradictory" means that in the Compendium of Valid Cognition, the knowledge of the second moon, etc., is said to rely on the sense itself. Since it is said to rely on the sense itself, it contradicts the assertion here that it is only mind. Commentary on the Explanation of Valid Cognition, Fifty-seventh Chapter. If it is not so, then the fourth "is distinction" here should not be misunderstood, meaning that even if the knowledge of the second moon, etc., is only mind, if it is considered to be non-conceptual, then the characteristic of "direct perception is free from conceptualization."

Just because of this, the knowledge of the second month and so on is not hindered. Here, the fourth word, 'specifically designated,' is something that others should also acknowledge. If that is the case, then from what can it be understood as the opposite? Therefore, the text says, 'Illusions and conventional knowledge, as well as inference and arising from inference.' It is distinguished by the word 'etc.,' meaning that it arises from the expression of memory, and by words such as 'appearing as direct perception, accompanied by blurriness.' For the words 'action and means of accomplishment,' 'action' itself and 'means of accomplishment' itself are their meanings. For 'all actions,' the explanation is 'by all actions,' indicating that the word 'action' in the sutra should be expressed by the word 'action.' The so-called 'through reliance on terminology' refers to relying on the distinction of the respective forms of objects, thinking that this is the understanding of this meaning, and not through the entities of producing and being produced, because that is impossible. The so-called 'its action is itself' means that how the action is the means of accomplishment, just as it is accomplished without interruption, the action of the means of accomplishment is itself, because the distinction is obtained from it. The so-called 'the distinction of objects depends on others' refers to depending on things similar to the meaning. The so-called 'different knowledge produced by it' refers to the characteristic of the discrimination of different knowledge produced by sensory perception, because it is common with blue and yellow, etc. In order to exclude those who consider the knowledge of what is seen, the encounter of the senses and objects, and the recognition of particularities to be the valid cognition of others, therefore it is said, 'because in that way the nature of what is to be measured is lost,' etc. The so-called 'these two knowledges' refers to the knowledge of the particularity and the basis of particularity, because the things characterized by the particularity and the basis of particularity themselves are the reason why they have different objects. The so-called 'knowledge of the same object arising at different times,' etc., refers to the state of being previously produced as
