La. Saying "this this cannot be shown," it is tantamount to admitting that it is by nature unanalyzable. If it were by nature analyzable, how could it not be shown? How could that which cannot be shown exist? Because establishing existence is also preceded by showing. This is the meaning of what is thought. If it is said, "it will become non-existent," this is the saying of those who hold to a philosophical tenet. It will be shown in this way, for example, happiness and so on, each knowing itself, this is not something that can be shown, nor is it suitable for speech, because it is not merely non-existent. The seed of delusion is also preceded by consciousness, and if it does not exist, realization will also become non-existent. Therefore, even self-awareness alone does not exist, and the external world is also extremely non-existent, and all of this becomes like a rabbit's horn. When it is like that, because there is no difference from non-existence, just as the beings seen in a dream, in the dream someone sees someone die, similarly, others see the attainment of inferior and superior states, those are what are seen in the dream. In the dream, that is, in the state of dream, as long as the one who sees has not awakened, for him, seeing birth and death and so on, similarly, when the one who sees awakens, all the names of birth and death and so on seen in their dream will also be applied. Just like the one who sees, just like the beings who see the dream, in that way, in the state of awakening, they will also change, this is the meaning to be expressed. The phrase "to these non-existent ones" refers to those seen in the dream and the seers. The phrase "like a being who wants to appear" refers to wanting birth and death and so on. The phrase "this is also not" refers to the being who wants to appear. Although wanting to change, this refutation is also the same for those who say that what is to be known is internal, for example, its blue and

Blue and yellow, etc., do not exist either externally or internally. As it is said, "Therefore, for the ultimate wisdom, coarse appearances are not," and so on. Because they do not exist externally or internally, they are like rabbit horns. If they are the same as non-existence, then why do blue and yellow, etc., have a definite place and time, and the nature of arising, ceasing, and abiding appears clearly, while rabbit horns, etc., do not? This objection is not the same. Like this, the seeds of delusion, which have inverted appearances, are the same as mind and mental factors, and their nature exists in the ultimate sense. Moreover, these are all definite in their respective capacities. From these definite capacities, inverted delusions also arise, and even though in the ultimate sense they are merely of the nature of self-awareness, due to the power of inner bewilderment, even if blue and yellow, etc., do not exist, they appear to have arising and ceasing, etc., as if they existed externally. Blue and yellow, etc., do not have external arising and ceasing. Therefore, blue, etc., also appear to be like that, but rabbit horns, etc., do not, because delusion is of such a nature. Such a nature arises from such seeds. How does the delusion that shows non-existence show some non-existent things, but not all? For example, like the delusion produced by cataracts, etc., this is very well known. This does not exist for those who say that there is no delusion, nor an object of delusion, and that everything does not exist. For the time being, some who say that knowable things are internal acknowledge it in this way. Other Yogācārins say that blue and yellow, etc., are not all non-existent, because they are clearly experienced, like joy, etc. However, blue, etc., do not exist as the nature of external objects, nor does one part of the consciousness that wants to grasp become two parts. This intention is that consciousness depends on the coarse

Herein lies the explanation of what is called 'being.' Therefore, in order to show the individual aspects held by the intention that aims at 'knowing,' just as inner happiness and so on, their self-realizing nature does not become part of another's grasping, because they are merely of the nature of experience. By being completely free from the aspects of the conceived object and subject, it is non-dual. Similarly, blue and so on are also of the nature of self-realization, and do not become part of another, just like happiness and so on, because they are of the nature of self-awareness. As explained before, because of being free from duality, it is non-dual. As stated by the teacher Dharmakirti, 'One does not say experiencing blue for the experience of blue, but rather experiencing only blue is experiencing blue.' And, 'If it is not different from knowledge, how can it follow another meaning? If the universal is the essence of knowledge, then it would be the meaning itself. Because it is so accepted, there is no fault.' And, 'Because of the definite focus at once, that blue is not different from mind.' and so on. Merely refuting difference is to be established, not to say there is no difference. If it were said that way, it would show the author of the treatise to be unwise. If blue and so on were like a rabbit's horn, what would be the point of refuting their difference? It should be said that they do not exist at all. If so, how can it be a single, extremely focused object? The teacher Dignāga also said, 'The nature of inner knowable things, whatever appears as an external object, that is the meaning, because it is the nature of consciousness.' Therefore, just like happiness and so on, blue and so on are also the nature of self-aware realization. If so, then the fault would be that many things would be known simultaneously, but this fault does not exist because that is precisely what is desired. If so, how do sentient beings have a single stream of consciousness? Since it is said with regard to the fully ripened consciousness, there is no contradiction. If so, then what is meant by 'one consciousness'?
