And it cannot distinguish the difference either. The so-called "these" refer to direct perception and inference. Because the nature of difference cannot be established without distinction, it is said, "If it is indicated by way of distinction," and so on. When grasping a non-object becomes valid cognition, when it is not established that "the nature of having an object of its own nature is direct perception." If the difference of objects cannot be distinguished, for the consciousness of those with eye diseases, etc., the hairs, etc., that appear as non-objects, if this direct perception is also considered valid cognition. If it deceives that, then similarly it will also deceive its own object, such as the nature of blue, etc., and it will not be valid cognition. If the object is indicated, this fault will not occur, because it deceives non-objects, so it is not reasonable that it is not valid cognition for conforming objects. For the time being, the result is the nature of realizing things without deception, because it is the agent of valid cognition, it will become the nature of being called a result. It also has two types, the definite one is that if there is entry of action, it will not be deceived, because there is no interruption by other agents. The indefinite ones are obtaining and abandoning desired and undesired things, etc. Among them, the first is the result, because it is the cause of establishing action. It is also the nature of realizing things, because it is the nature of not being deceived when valid cognition enters. The indefinite one, because it is interrupted by other causes, is not the nature of not being deceived when valid cognition enters. Therefore, what it does is not establishing action, and what the agent does is not that result either, therefore if it is not like that, it cannot become a result, so these are said. The nature of not knowing cannot be valid cognition either, because the nature of not knowing is like a vase, etc., and does not know at all, for all valid cognitions that are different from knowing, there is no very extreme establishment, because it is determined by the aspect of the object. This will be explained in detail below.

It is said, "Like blue lotus and so on," blue is general, and lotus is specific. Thinking in this way, it seems to be a single object possessing the nature of both. Because it does not possess the quality of establishing an example. As for "That is self-cognizant knowledge," and so on, it will be shown in this way: it is not knowledge other than the aspect of grasping, because that aspect of grasping becomes an object. However, the aspect of grasping, which has the nature of self-cognizance, is knowledge at the very moment it arises. If there is no difference, from where do the object and the subject arise? And how does it become an unestablished example? If it is said, "Other knowledge," and so on, if there is no difference between self-cognizance and the aspect of grasping, but by examining the difference of other knowledge, when the aspect of grasping is established as an object, because self-cognizance also has no difference from the aspect of grasping. In that way, just like the aspect of grasping, it will also become an object. It is not possible to say without confusion, "This is the object, and this is the subject." If knowledge is also the object, then what else is the subject? Relying on what does it become the object? In that case, there will be no object and subject in one thing. Therefore, it is said, "There is no difference in aspect," and so on. As for "Other reasons besides the object," and so on, the immediate cause of the previous consciousness is attention. That which has the ability to produce the result is in accordance with it. Remembering the previous sign is grasping the sign. "Having those" means when those are present, meaning even without external objects. The characteristics of things that can function, etc., should be combined with one's own characteristics, etc. As for "Because of being able to function and not being able to function," for things that can function, if there exists a non-common, non-sound object, other reasons, or if they do not exist, and from this it is said that there is no wisdom, then it should be combined with one's own characteristics. In this way, for things that cannot function, the common and sound object, etc.,
