And knowledge with signs also comes through signs related to objects, so it is said that it can obtain objects. Otherwise, if there is no connection, then knowledge of sound cannot obtain objects. If it is said that the knowledge of sound, 'sound is impermanent because it is made,' is also born from the way things are, so it will not be mistaken like direct perception. Then, the reason is that whatever is born from an object is not mistaken, like direct perception. The knowledge of sound obtaining an object is also born from an object, which is thought to be the determination of pervasive contradiction, because not being born from an object pervades confusion, and being born from an object also contradicts this. That is not so, even if it is born from an object, because it does not appear, the nature of the object does not appear, and it is particularly attached to it, so it is confusion. Therefore, there is no contradiction between being born from an object and confusion, so it is considered to have doubts about the reversal of the reason. Or, what can be done with the doubt about the reversal itself? In order to show that this reason is a common uncertainty, it is mentioned to mistake light for jewels, etc. Mistaking the light of jewels for jewels is also a confusion because it appears, even if mistaking the light of jewels for jewels is born from the object of jewels, confusion will appear. If it is said that because of confusion, etc., just as mistaking a mirage for water does not obtain an object, the conceptualization born from inference is also the same, this is what is thought. No, etc., this is the answer, just as it was said before, only like mistaking the light of jewels for jewels, like this, mistaking the light of jewels for jewels is the very thing that can obtain jewels. Because confusion itself is correct. The definition of confusion, etc., is mentioned, like this, if confusion and attainment are contradictory, then at that time confusion is not obtaining objects.

If there is no confusion in what is to be proven, that is impossible, because the characteristic of confusion is appearing as inverted, not that it cannot be obtained. If that does not exist, then the meaning of "because of not arising" is that if a thing does not exist, then because of not arising, it cannot arise from it, this is what is being thought. Obtaining itself does not depend on appearance, nor does it depend on the appearance belonging to things, because merely being related to a thing, even if it does not appear, can still be obtained. Therefore, even if the knowledge of sound appears as wrong, but if it is related to a thing, it can still obtain the thing, this view holds. However, if one again thinks that the knowledge of sound is completely in accordance with the thing itself, then, in this case, one should focus the mind on the essence of the external object and generate knowledge that is in accordance with the thing itself, this is the meaning of the phrase "through the power of sound, knowledge that is in accordance with the thing itself arises." If one admits entering in this way, then one must think that what the knowledge of sound is to grasp is the universal, because the self-characteristic cannot be expressed by sound. Since the universal to be grasped cannot perform a function, it will not enter into the universal of the object of conceptual consciousness. If the meaning of "for others" is that if one enters into the appearance that is other than the universal and cannot be expressed by sound, then it will be too pervasive, because the sound of a cow will also enter into a horse. If one says that there is no connection between the universal of the cow itself and the appearance of the horse, therefore it will not be like that, that is not right, even if there is a connection, one cannot enter into something that cannot be expressed by sound. If it is not like that, then after saying "cut the cane," one will also enter into the person holding the cane. If one says that there is no necessary connection between the cane and the person holding the cane, then it is the same for the genus and the thing possessing that genus, this has already been said before. However, what sound expresses is only the genus, but it also expresses the thing possessing that genus, if that is the case, if one admits grasping the thing possessing that genus, then it has already been said that the universal is useless, etc., because one only wants to directly combine sound with the appearing things, and one says what is the use of the universal, thus explaining that the universal is useless. The word "etc." indicates boundless, etc.
