If one is unwilling to state the cause of arising, then the reason for error will not be asserted. If the arising of other similarities also lacks an object, it will not become the reason for error. Therefore, it is unreasonable not to want to state these. Thus, it should be explained in another way. The first reason for error is that it shows that the seed of habituation to attachment to wrong views, which is the reason for the error of the Tirthikas, exists within. The meaning of the words here is: "deceived by the doubt that it is always so," which means: deceived by the error of attachment to non-momentariness. Those who speak of non-momentariness do not understand even when they see, because they are attached to non-momentariness. This is a summary statement. If one is deceived by the doubt that it is always so, how does that happen? It is stated, "because there is no object." The word "object" is superfluous, as it refers to forms such as non-momentariness that are more than how momentariness exists. Grasping, holding, the object of existence is the seed of error, such as non-momentariness, because through its power, such error arises. Here it is said that from beginningless time, one is deceived by the error of non-momentariness, which is produced by the seed of attachment to wrong views existing within, and therefore one cannot understand. Although the seed of error only has views within, why does the knowledge of experience itself not ascertain the form of how it is grasped? It is stated, "foolishness." Because those who are attached to the view of non-momentariness are accustomed to the views of bad treatises. If even seeing momentariness with inner faults cannot be ascertained as it is, then how about those Buddhist disciples who have ascertained momentariness through reason and scripture? If certainty about momentariness does not arise solely from the power of direct perception, because they do not have attachment to bad treatises? Therefore, it is stated, "deceived by the arising of other similarities," which is the general cause of error. Again,
