Only that. Smoke is the fruit of fire, that will surely be determined. Why is that? Therefore, if there is smoke, there is inevitably fire. If it is not like that, if fire is the cause of smoke, then, in another sense, fire is not necessarily related to it, because the universality related to smoke is not necessarily certain. Therefore, the nature of smoke will become autonomous. Because it is autonomous, even if it is not there, even if there is no fire, the self-nature of smoke will not be incomplete, so it will not not exist, it will only exist. But that is not the case. Therefore, smoke should be considered as a fruit. If one admits that smoke is a fruit in this way, then there must inevitably be its cause - fire. This "only this" and so on, is the establishment of the doctrine. If there is another meaning, that is, if one thinks there is a fruit, then one will establish one's own nature closely, and separately establish one's own nature. The fruit is the fruit itself, it exists because the cause exists. The cause exists, that is because smoke exists. Therefore, smoke is a fruit, and it follows that the person who knows it is a fruit will naturally understand that without fire there is no smoke. This is like understanding what follows through inconsistent dharmas, and so on. If one says that without fire there is no smoke, then this negative statement necessarily indicates that smoke arises from fire. Like this, the entities of cause and effect will be determined. Combined with "inevitably arises from fire", it means that it arises only from fire. If it is determined in this way that it arises from it, then what follows will naturally be understood. If it is not like that, if one speaks of inconsistent dharmas, and does not say that smoke is the fruit of fire, then, if it does not exist, how can smoke exist? It will only exist, so negation will not be certain. Therefore, this is another meaning, if something is missing, what is inevitably missing, that is its fruit. Therefore, by saying negation,

Understanding is to abide. Here, others misunderstand and say things like permanence. The result of the meaning of permanence and impermanence is the result of the meaning of permanence and impermanence. Its nature is that itself, even if it is not that. Thus, since the knowledge of hearing is solely the dharma of sound, if it is uncommon, then in that case, is the knowledge of hearing the result of a permanent sound? Or is it the result of an impermanent one? It is unknowable. Therefore, the knowledge of hearing is neither the result of the meaning of permanence, nor the result of the meaning of impermanence. However, if those are absent, if there is no meaning of permanence and impermanence, then there is no knowledge of hearing, and if those are reversed, then it is also reversed, that is the statement. Briefly, it is absent in the absence of the meaning of permanence, because things like pots are impermanent. It is also absent in the absence of the meaning of impermanence, because things like space are not impermanent. If asked, the proponent of established tenets says, it is not non-existence, thus saying, this that should be heard, if there is no permanence and impermanence, then it is absent, thus it cannot be known. If those are absent, then it is absent, if it is determined like that, then at that time it will definitely be that result. However, that saying "if those are absent, then it is absent" is also absent. Why is that? Because the thing that should be heard itself doubts those very meanings of permanence and impermanence. Therefore, if there are no permanent and impermanent things, because the thing that should be heard is definite, how can it rely on the nature of those? Relying on the very nature of permanence and impermanence, doubt arises about sound. Thus, the thing that should be heard is itself not separate from permanence and impermanence. If so, how can it be said that the thing that should be heard is absent in permanence and impermanence because it is uncommon? If asked, it is said that there is no definite existence, etc., because there is no definite existence of the thing that should be heard in permanence and impermanence. In permanence and impermanence, it is said that the thing that should be heard is absent. Thus, in the reason of the result, with examples, the things to be proven and the proofs, cause and effect.
