It is also indicated by "etc." and so on. If one wants to negate merely because of not seeing in this way, then for permanence and impermanence as well, there is the non-seeing of audibility. Therefore, they would become the reason for distinguishing permanence and impermanence, becoming the reason for negating permanence and impermanence. Although audibility is already excluded from permanence and impermanence, in order to understand why they are distinguished, it is said "distinction is" etc. It is not distinction; distinguishing permanence and impermanence is from excluding them, it is not other than excluding from permanence and impermanence. If something has the nature of exclusion, but it does not possess the ability to distinguish them, then at that time it will only become not excluding from it. If according to your view, how is audibility not a reason for distinguishing? Therefore, it is said "not distinguishing" etc. From anything, that is, from permanence and impermanence, negating merely because of not seeing is uncertain. This is undoubtedly so. If it is not so, then on some subject, it is determined that some dharma does not exist somewhere, then how can it not exist? Because it is determined that it does not exist somewhere, it will not be understood as not existing. Audibility itself, like being made etc., because it is the nature of a real thing, it will be affected by harmful characteristics, isn't it just the existence of exclusion from permanence? If this is true, but others also consider permanence to be a real thing, therefore, the uncommon real nature will undoubtedly involve some special features that are universally present in real things, so this is said according to the views of others. If audibility is excluded from permanence and impermanence, but there is doubt that other valid cognitions hinder the distinction between the two, then the explanation of this point is "if" etc. If audibility distinguishes the two, that is, to prove the distinction between permanence and impermanence, then there will be other hindering valid cognitions. What is hindering? Therefore, it is said "mutually" etc., for those who mutually

Those that have the nature of eliminating are called 'that.' For example, impermanence itself eliminates permanence, and permanence itself also eliminates that. They are because one is eliminated, the other is established; it is not a negation for establishing a second moon. If audibility, because it is different from permanence, eliminates permanence, then at that time impermanence will be established. At that time, because it is also different from impermanence, it is both negating impermanence and establishing impermanence, so negation and establishment exist simultaneously in one thing. This is not reasonable, because negation and establishment are contradictory in one thing. The means of valid cognition that harms should also be compared in this way: whatever is contradictory cannot exist simultaneously in one thing, like cold and warmth. According to the way described above, the elimination of permanence and impermanence also contradicts the same dharma at the same time, which is called pervasive contradiction. The proponent of established tenets said: Having said 'now,' etc., now means that there is harm. From non-seeing, that is, from not seeing, there is no reason for the dissimilar side. If because there is harm in this way, non-seeing is not a means of valid cognition, then only audibility is not a means of valid cognition, but not for others. If this is the case, then for others also, having said 'similarly for others,' etc., for other reasons, it is also possible that the non-seeing that establishes the opposite is harmed by other means of valid cognition. Why? Having said 'characteristic,' etc., if the cause that is different from the dissimilar side is called the characteristic of non-seeing, if there is harm in the non-seeing of audibility that conforms to that characteristic, then that characteristic, that is, the characteristic that establishes difference, will only become refuting everything, so everything cannot be trusted. If that is the case, then the object of inference is also seen in some cases to contradict direct perception and inference, for example, sound is permanent because it is audible, just like sound itself. If it is said in this way, then permanence itself...
