Since such prohibition has already been mentioned above, then, this is not acceptable in any way. Pots and so on are said to belong to others, because there exist other things that can clearly manifest without a maker, so there is no fault, that is, it is not close to being the same as sound. In order to show other manifestors, it is said "their" and so on, the manifestors of pots and so on are very famous in the world, but not potters and so on. If potters and so on also become manifestors, if potters and so on are manifestors, then pots and so on will also become like that, just like lamps and so on are makers, because they are the remainder. If potters and so on can also change, then it is not like that either. Potters and so on can differentiate, because the differentiation from the manifestor is different, so potters and so on are the makers. Why? Because there is no other way to help, there is no other way except the maker and the manifestor. There, when the manifestor is prohibited, potters and so on are the makers, because they are the remainder. If there is no maker of sound, then the form of other manifestors cannot be established, in that case, who would call the maker of sound the maker? Therefore, because it is different from pots and so on, sound is the object to be manifested. "That and that are" and so on are said by the proponents of established tenets, there are other manifestors, that and that are also the same for sounds. Because sound also has sense organs and suitable objects, that is, the sense organ of eye consciousness and the situation suitable for hearing. The word "etc." is because mental activity can also make the function very special. If the specialty itself is how? It is said "functions etc.", and the word "also" means reason, the collection of potters and so on, the makers of pots and so on, their determination, that is, their own fruit, the observed dharma.

This is for the sake of seeing the doers. They also possess the distinctiveness of actions, so sound will definitely become an object of focus. Therefore, they themselves are the doers, just like vases and so on. Those who explain the word "also" as having a collective meaning consider the agents arising from the senses and so on to be the most outstanding, because they say that this follows the nature of the agent. For the moment, do not let the manifester of sound become something else. Even so, it is not appropriate to be the object of manifestation, because that would be too extreme. To show this, lamps and so on are mentioned. For some other objects, such as the manifester itself like lamps and so on, and tastes and so on, there are no other manifesters like lamps and so on. Because there are no other manifesters, their causes, i.e., the causes of lamps and so on, also become the manifesters of those lamps and so on. Because that is how it is, sound is not manifested by the doers, but is merely produced. Even if the manifestation itself changes due to manifestation by other means, "even if the manifestation itself changes due to manifestation by other means" and so on are mentioned. Even if it becomes manifest from the doers, it will change in three ways: it itself possesses a quality that is more excellent than the previous state; or it is free from what obstructs sound from becoming an object of focus; or for the consciousness that focuses on sound, the sound is clear. There is no other way besides these three ways. For the moment, in that case, producing an excellence is not the manifestation of sound. Why? Because that would lead to sound being impermanent. If producing an excellence is permanent, then how is it impermanent? "That is" and so on are mentioned. Producing an excellence is destroying the previous essence and producing a later essence, because it has the characteristic of being produced. "If" and so on present the second possibility. If you think that, for a discerning person, the essence of your sound's production is that which is free from whatever obstructs the impediment to being an object of focus, then that is the manifestation of sound, then how is the collection of doers accomplished?
