It is also said, "To infer in other ways," etc. The inference that establishes existence is also, by establishing that which is pervaded by the dharma to be established, such as the dharma that pervades, etc. If one wants to show understanding, why should the example be understood and comprehended? It is not to be known. Why? Because the reason that pervades that which is to be established is shown as it is, therefore the dharma to be established that pervades is established. If the meaning is indeed determined, and the connection is indeed grasped, then for this inference, the example is the meaning of recollection, just as in other things, when that which is to be pervaded is near, that which pervades will be understood, so too for this, it will be understood, this is for the sake of arousing recollection of confusion. That is the example arousing recollection of confusion. The other is called non-apprehension. In order to show that, it is said, "That is," etc. That which is to be shown is the rabbit's horn, etc., which can be called a non-existent name, even if the non-existent name is understood only from other non-apprehended things, for things that have the characteristic of apprehension, such as the general or the substance with branches, etc., for this too, because of confusion, the example is shown near, so the object-possessor should be remembered. If for the object-possessor that appears or does not appear, for all non-apprehended things, one must appropriately establish the negation of a non-existent name or the negation of an existent name, then why did teachers like Dignāga compose the syllogism, "The self, etc., is not existent, because it is not apprehended"? For that syllogism of non-apprehension, how can the non-existent name be established or the existent name be negated? Because the refutation just spoken is kept in mind, it is thought that neither is reasonable. The proponent also temporarily allows the debate to be raised here, and then thinking to give a conforming answer, said, "How will it not change?" The debater's thought is, saying, "That meaning is," etc., that sound of the chief, etc., the characteristics of the three qualities, etc.

If there is a negation of the meaning of having that nature, then because the words of the subject, such as the chief, which are the expressers, are not connected. Because there is no connection of the expresser apart from what is to be expressed. When those words such as the chief are not connected, then the negation is distinguished only by the word expressing 'non-existence.' Moreover, because the meaning to be negated is not shown, the word of negation, which is called negation without an object, is not permissible. Thus, since both the proposition words such as 'the chief does not exist' cannot be connected, then which one is to be established? Therefore, the connection of the proof called non-observation is meaningful, because those that have become the side of the chief, etc., are also non-existent, so it is not a property of the side, it becomes a reason, or the proposition words contradict each other. Like this, because 'the chief, etc.' is connected, if its meaning is near, then it is also not existent, because it is said that it is not near. Because near and not near are contradictory at once on one, this is the debater's thought. That fault does not exist, and it is answered with 'that fault does not exist,' etc. Here it is said like this, if the chief, etc., which are the nature of the three external entities of others, are examined, if that is what is to be expressed by the words, then because there is no external chief, etc., the refutation will be spoken, such as not saying the word of the external chief, etc. Like this, not only is it the meaning of the external word, but also for 'beginningless,' etc., because the earlier discriminations generate the later discriminations, so the power of habituation is established, and the earlier discrimination also arises from other habituations, and that also arises from others, because it is a beginningless cycle, so there is also no fault of infinity, therefore 'beginningless' is spoken. Beginningless is also that, habituation is also that, and what arises from that is arising from beginningless habituation. Becoming like that is also that, and discrimination is also that.
