Although destruction is the realm of the unmanifest, it cannot be established. The so-called "some" and so on are others, for example, even though the fire in a house or other place has gone out, it is because smoke is seen. If that is the case, even if the cause is destroyed, saying "seeing the effect" is a mistake. The meaning of the statement "without a cause, there is no effect" is that when the cause exists, the effect exists, and as long as the cause exists, the effect must exist. Do not say that, because if the cause is destroyed, etc., there will be faults, because the effect that arises simultaneously from the cause exists at other times even though the cause is destroyed. So what does this statement say? It says "without a cause" and so on, like this, this treatise, even if this treatise argues with the treatise of "things are like this" and so on, but in terms of meaning, it is combined in that way. Like that, it is temporarily accepted as what is to be shown and explained. Since things are not momentary, therefore, the statement that the effect exists when the cause is destroyed, what causes confusion and doubt? For example, the moment of smoke produced by fire does not exist when the fire goes out. When the second moment of smoke produced by fire exists, the moment of smoke also perishes at the third moment of fire that has become the cause, so from where does the effect still exist after the cause has perished? Any smoke that establishes the effect later, in order to show that it is not the characteristic of smoke, but the characteristic of fire, therefore it says "things are like this" and so on. The so-called "existing like this" refers to the fact that even if the initial cause has perished, it still exists at a later time, but its cause is not the immediately preceding cause that has already perished. So how can it be said that the smoke that arises later is the cause of fire? It says "through" and so on, temporarily the first moment of smoke is produced by the fire itself, but although the moment of smoke is certain, the others are produced in that way. In order to clarify this, in order to help the continuity, therefore it says "in order to help the continuity", because it is initially in order to generate the continuity, so that is the effect.
