Do not understand it indiscriminately. However, what is called self-nature, etc., things with kalpas are self-nature, and the knower is a sign. Not understanding these is not understanding the self-nature knower. For it, to establish non-existence, it is impossible to have measure. This is stating this kind of reasoning. Not understanding self-nature is perceptual inversion, and not understanding the knower is inferential inversion. For the perceptual and inferential inversion of invisible objects, this is stating this kind of reasoning, which is the summarized meaning. Explaining with "what" etc., any self-nature of some things with kalpas is not visible by perception, because objects etc. are the cause of kalpas. That self-nature is merely invisible, merely the invisibility of its object, merely perceptual inversion, that is not called non-existence. Like "where it is said like that" etc., like that, for those kalpas, because one's own ability is near, the ability to generate knowledge is also not there etc. After saying not understanding self-nature, in order to say not understanding the knower, therefore the knower etc. is said. The explanation of the knower is "from the sign", for the meaning beyond the senses, in all cases, for example, the mind is not separated from desire etc., it is eliminated. Similarly, because the knower is not on the sign, therefore the difference is eliminated by self-nature. For example, giving etc., here is the elimination of difference, and not merely the existence of the dharma itself. Giving and harming etc. are relative distinctions. The mind of its object is called that. For the mind of giving, it is the meaning of the mind that returns from harming etc. ། །Twenty-second section. The cause of increase is the special cause of the future fruit. Here, abandoning the self-nature of consciousness is not, because they are perception itself. However, the cause of increase, that is the difference of self-nature. Consciousness is perception itself, its

Since the very cause of becoming pure and superior is itself directly perceived, from where does this confusion arise? Therefore, it is said, "Regarding the meaning of direct perception," and so forth, connecting the phrase "Regarding the meaning of direct perception, in a reversed manner" with this. Even if someone were to deny in this way, saying that there is no cause for superiority. How is it in a reversed manner? It is said, "Devoid of result," and so forth. That is, devoid of result, meaning devoid of the result of superiority, because it is the same as the superiority that is not indicated in the distinctions of mind in the scriptures. If one asks how it is the same, it is said, "Because there is no immediate result," and so forth. That is, from other things devoid of result, the immediate result is not seen. Just because "just" the immediate result is seen, it is not the absence of it, it is not devoid of result. Why is that? It is said, "Result," and so forth. Because things that have the characteristic of changing states at other times, later and later, are seen to arise from causes. Rats and mad dogs are examples of distinctions. Because the previous changes are not seen from the poison that rats and mad dogs have bitten, at other times, changes with characteristics such as fainting are seen. From seeing the later changes of rat poison and so on, it is reasonable to infer that it is the power of the result. If someone says that the future result of thoughts such as generosity is so unreasonable that it is reasonable to think that it does not exist, it is said, "That," and so forth. Regarding this, there is no contradiction in the future result arising from thoughts such as generosity, because there is no damaging valid cognition. The mere non-perception of the ability to produce the result to be proven is not a valid cognition. If, because there is no damaging valid cognition, denial is not existence, then what is the valid cognition for existence itself? Because there is no valid cognition, it is also unreasonable to be certain of existence. Because there is no damaging and establishing valid cognition, it is permissible to have doubts,
