Regarding the nature of mutual dependence, it is merely the self-nature of an existent thing. That self-nature does not possess a sound that can express it. The sound of relation is considered to be what expresses it. When combining it, the word "of which" serves to increase it. Therefore, when expressing the relation of the king's servant, if the relation of "the king's servants" is the cause of removal, then at that time it is understood as the manner of relation. Therefore, if it is said to be an expression, then "relation itself" and so on are mentioned. If it is said to be an expression of the relation of the king and the servants, then the nature of the relation arising from the mutual dependence of the king and the servants, because the relation itself exists in the mind, it is not understood as intended. That is, it is not understood in the way one wants to understand the relation of the nature of mutual dependence of "the king's servant." Therefore, the reason for saying "therefore" is that even if this relation is understood from the sound of relation, because the form as described above is the nature of relation, it is not expressed by its own nature. Therefore, just as there is no overreaching inference for relation as there is for non-existence. Just as non-existence is considered to be expressible because it is an object of mind, so too, relation is not something that can be expressed. Non-existence is when its own nature is an object of mind, and therefore it can also be expressed by sound, while relation is not considered to be its own nature, but it can be expressed, because obtaining the nature of relation itself is the cause of being an object and expressing it. As it is said: "Relation is not a real entity, therefore its nature cannot be grasped. How can the nature of relation itself be expressed?" Therefore, this object of conceptual thought can be expressed without hindrance, and it exists there. Therefore, if the thought "relation does not exist" arises in the mind, then the sound arising from it will also necessarily be applied, and even so, only the sound with non-existence as its object is obtained. What?

If one is unwilling to take "there is no connection, may it not become this fault" as an object in the mind, thinking that "there is no connection, may it not become this fault," then, for what obstructs the statement "there is no pot here," the object and so forth are not obstructions, because the object and so forth exist. The connection is also not an obstruction, because it does not grasp its function, so the connection is not an obstruction. Furthermore, whatever speaks of expressing non-existence, that is expression; if one answers that "speaking of expressing non-existence, this is not the non-existence to be expressed," then how can one answer when not speaking? Because without expressing the word of non-existence, it is not possible to show that it is not the very thing to be expressed. However, if one wants the word of non-existence, then how is it that this word of non-existence does not express non-existence? Because the statement "non-existence is to be expressed" is shown by this very word of non-existence. If one says that non-existence itself is not existence, therefore, non-existence is not existence, so it cannot be expressed, then, when speaking of "non-existence itself" and so forth, the reason for saying "therefore" is because it is not existence. What is the nature of the statement that it itself, that is, "non-existence is not existence"? The word of non-existence, "non-existence is not existence," will not be used. Why will it not be used? Because non-existence itself has not been accepted, and it has not been accepted that non-existence is to be expressed. If one says that this is a negation of non-existence that is completely conceived by others, then, since one temporarily wants the word that has non-existence as its object, then in any case, since one must use the name of non-existence, one must undoubtedly want the consciousness and words that have non-existence as their object. If one prevents the meaning of showing such an action, then because of the reason for not using meaningless words, there is no usage of negation with no object, this will be explained below with "arising from beginningless habits, discrimination has reached the end." Therefore, this is a conclusion, and the teacher is establishing the view that "words will inevitably be used" through this much of the text. Here, others say: Even if non-existent things do have words, how can those non-existent things become distinct by their own nature?
