It is only so. For anything, to establish it in a general way, that is called "thatness," which is another distinction, merely different from being separated from similar kinds. The so-called "universal" as an existent thing does not exist at all. If it exists, then it becomes the nature of the object, because it becomes the object without recognizing the difference. Because if the universal is the meaning, is real, then it will appear, its nature will not become the nature of the object, and it is unreasonable not to hold its own nature. Why? Because that is made the nature of the object, because the universal is determined by the knowledge that there is no difference in the differences. The self that is not grasped is the cause of the knowledge of others. Just as the Samkhyas say that without difference there is no characteristic, then everything is not the establisher. Similarly, Buddhists also think that without difference there is no characteristic. Which debater is this answer again? For what is said, "how" etc., from the nature of producing, for example, from the nature of producing rice sprouts, the earth etc. are different. This "this" refers to the sprout. How does it produce? Even if it is admitted that it is the producer, because the difference has no characteristic, everything will become the producer, that is what is said. Here is shown the answer to the refutation. Now is the second to be spoken. What else to think? For what is said, "if" etc., if the difference is the same, even if it is finally determined that each produces the fruit, and the difference of the nature of not producing has no difference, if that is the case, then "is" is the refutation. Use "how" etc. to show the meaning of the verse. The Samkhyas who say that the self has no difference, if this has no difference then there is no characteristic, then just as not everything produces everything, similarly the Buddhist's difference has no characteristic, and not everything produces everything, connect it like this. The so-called "nature of things" is the power of things themselves. Even if it is admitted that things have no difference, it is not that there is no difference in everything.

If it is admitted that a single thing does a single act, it will be contradictory. It is explained by "merely different" and so on, that is, the cause, that is, the proximate cause and the condition act together. One's own cause and condition, by virtue of those differences, are able to establish the result, and that which is determined to have that nature is called that, because its thing is that itself. The so-called "not other" means that other than what is desired to be produced will not become the agent. Why? Because it itself does not possess that nature, that is, it does not possess the nature of producing that result. The so-called "that" refers to one of the three qualities. The so-called "that itself" refers to the unique result itself. The so-called "like this" refers to that different form itself. If, like this, the seed of rice produces the sprout of rice, at that time it is not the seed of barley, and whichever is the seed of barley, that itself is the nature of the seed of rice, in that case, for one thing, there will be both an agent and a non-agent. If the seed of rice and so on abide in that, and that has the difference of three qualities, because of that difference, there is no agent at all. If even if different, it cannot act together by the reason of no agent, because those are also mutually different. It is explained by "form" and so on, that is, there is no difference in all forms, and it is not the same in all forms, because there is also difference. Even so, the so-called "also" is because it is different, so it is not the agent itself. The so-called "because it is different in some form" means because the situation of universal observation is different in some form. If it is not so, then the nature spoken of by the Samkhya school will also be difficult to find a different situation. When the nature of the seed of rice is completely transformed, the other seed of barley also, by the order of the cause of the sprout of rice, because of combining everything with everything, if it is said that the agent itself is not non-existent, therefore "or order" is spoken, that order is the general reality.
