If someone says, what I do is to make the manifest different from the manifestation itself. To this, since "this is other" etc. have already been mentioned, then saying "this is" is permissible. Saying "that is" is also permissible. Saying "in that" is from the point of view of the manifestor. If it becomes a fault like abiding, then if it is said that "the other is the basis of that," then the same conclusion will be reached here as well. Saying "that" refers to the manifest. Furthermore, the non-agent is different from the manifest, because for the agent, there is nothing to manifest. Saying "should be regarded" indicates that there is benefit, but if nothing is done, then it is non-beneficial, therefore this is contradictory. If someone says that only the arising is the manifestor, then pointing out the error through "because it is the result" etc., for example, although smoke is not the arising of fire, it is the manifestor because it is its result. The word "etc." includes water bubbles in water etc. Saying "is the manifestor" etc. is the answer, because relying on the sign of smoke, fire is self-nature, and it is not the one who arises cognition in its own nature. Why? Because the fire that becomes the object to be inferred in that way is not the manifest arising one. Otherwise, because it is the aspect of the self-nature of fire, it can only be known through direct perception, because there is a connection through transmission, that is, the self-nature of fire is to generate smoke, and it is from smoke and the knowledge of smoke that it can be known, that is what is shown by direct perception. Through "in that" etc., it is shown that the proximate cause itself is the direct arising one. The proximate cause is to know through observation. Saying "not through the power of the object" means not through the power of the self-nature of fire. Why? Because even if it is gone, that is, even if the fire has been extinguished for a long time, there is still knowledge of fire. How

Furthermore, taking "lineage" as an example, following after the sign is the conceptualization of recollection, that is, through that gateway. For example, in the case of someone who only sees smoke, even if there is no smoke and fire, a conceptualization of recollection of some smoke will arise there. Later, from the recollection of following and reversing, thinking, "There is smoke here, therefore there is also fire here," in this way, the knowledge of fire arises only through lineage. Taking "universal" as an example, one should apply what was said before to this, that is, the object of the inferential consciousness that has the appearance of a universal is not a generator, because it exists when the object is destroyed and not yet born. Even when the object is near, it is not generated by the power of the object, because it has been determined above that conceptualizations are not connected with meaning, therefore conceptualizations do not arise as they are, and it is shown by "because of existence and non-existence, it is the power of following, but not because of appearance," and in the third chapter, it will also be explained in the context of establishing non-conceptualization. Manifestly connecting, that is, by the power of generating consciousness that benefits its own nature. "Here" means the arising of consciousness in its own object. "Elsewhere" refers to lamps and so on. "From that" refers to what is relied upon from lamps and so on. In this way, one should not say, "All that makes it clear is a generator." However, whatever is shown as a companion for generating consciousness of its own form, that is it, therefore it will be shown as not deceiving. The universal also relies on the basis in order to generate consciousness of its own form, therefore it is considered to be what is to be made clear, therefore, it should obtain from the basis a self-designation. This obtaining of self does not come from any universal, because it is admitted to be permanent. That is the universal. The opponent says that when saying "universal" and so on, it means clearly stating the collection that corresponds to its own basis.
