Regarding those called "limbs" and so on, there are some distinctions. By means of what is called "skillful in combining sounds" and so on, it is explained that for everything, it is a person or a worldly thinker. Why not transcend? Because it has been said "that" and so on. The fruit of that sound is entering and exiting, meaning withdrawing from some things and entering into some things. If it is not like that, the combination of sounds will become meaningless. In order to show that, it is said "if" and so on. If this speaker does not withdraw some ideas that he wants to express from some unwanted things, or does not withdraw from that and enter into some wanted things, then at that time, because it appears as it is, the sound appears just like before the combination of sounds, the thinker has a doubtful nature about things, meaning that whatever the thing is like, it will appear. For all words, some words will not be established and expressed, why? Because if the words of the sound are not grasped with certainty, they will not exist. In order to prove that, it is said "for example" and so on. Here, through the word "fetch water," in order to understand the difference in action, it is said "pot." If this sound called "pot," by distinguishing spoons and so on, can generate wisdom in a definite meaning, it will become fruitful. If there is already a sound combination called "pot," but because one does not want to distinguish others, then this called "pot and spoon" is just a symbol, and similarly, other actors fetching water are also included. Whatever it is like, it means that it does not depend on whether the amount of water is small or large. If the sound called "water" does not distinguish from other actions and enter into a special thing, then at that time, that combination is also meaningless, therefore it is said "similarly" and so on, only the word "fetch water" will be said. What is it like? Without excluding the actor and the object, it is fetching water.

That which is referred to merely by the words "pot" and the action "water," without being specifically designated or relying on anything particular, should be called that. Similarly, to a person who cannot be taken away or who is clearly inclined towards other actions, if the word "come here" cannot prevent him from leaving, or cannot exclude other actions, then the word "come here" should not be spoken either. To illustrate this, "similarly" and so on are mentioned. If what needs to be accomplished, using the word "come here" to refer to things like food that need to be accomplished, and it is thought that other things that can be accomplished are not worth the effort and not worth accepting, then in that case, the word "come here," which indicates action, should not be spoken either. Therefore, for words used as names for things like pots, there is a distinction. For those words used as names, such as "similarly," there should also be something to be distinguished, such as non-knowability. Otherwise, if there is no doubt, combination is not allowed. The phrase "because combination is not allowed" refers to the doubt about non-knowability, etc., which is another doubt. Without that, there is another doubt, meaning if there is no doubt about non-knowability, etc. For example, if there is doubt about whether sound is knowable in its nature of impermanence, etc., then combining the statement "the form of impermanence, etc., is knowable" with it, then the doubt about the form of impermanence, etc., being non-knowable is what needs to be distinguished. Similarly, for the statement "all dharmas are knowable by the omniscient wisdom," one must also, in relation to the wisdom of omniscience, have doubt about non-knowability, and that is what needs to be distinguished. Similarly, some say that non-entities, because they do not exist, cannot be objects of knowledge. Therefore, they are not knowable. For this statement, the imputation of non-knowability is what needs to be distinguished. Because even things that are merely "non-existent" can be objects. Similarly, for knowable
