That which is called "that" is the separation of others. It means that from the sound, the general characteristic, and the transformed object, it is separated. Only from itself, through natural means, it determines the function of one, thereby thoroughly distinguishing those things that are not its own results. By placing them in two sets, there is no fault of one relying on the other. In order to explain that it is impossible to distinguish trees and non-trees by relying on the general characteristic that has become a real object, the words "that" and so on are mentioned. Just as different things such as vases are distinguished from the various characteristics of trees, resins and the like are also similar to it. Although the mutual differences between them are seen, no matter what general characteristic is seen or not seen, for the thing that manifests this general characteristic, that is a tree; for the thing that does not manifest, that is a non-tree. Therefore, like this general characteristic object that distinguishes trees and non-trees, there is no thing that has its own characteristics that can be regarded as an allowable object. Why does it not exist? The words "that" and so on are mentioned. Because different general characteristics are not considered to be different from the things that appear such as branches. For trees and the like, one mind with the form of leaves and the like, and another mind without the form of branches and the like, these two appearances are invisible. "Like seeing a water pot when holding a water pot" is an inconsistent example. Just as when holding a water pot, one would think that the water pot is different, but the general characteristic is not like that. Because the specificity related to branches and the like, and the general characteristic that is not regarded as different from others, are not obvious to those things that appear. If it is said that other things appear in their own form, then how can it exist when it is not regarded as itself? Even according to the view that claims that the general characteristic is not other, the thing seen in a clear form, because it is no different from its own characteristics, cannot be viewed like looking at other clear specificities. Therefore, in the moment of expression, whatever sees a similarity is a tree, and whatever does not have that similarity is not a tree. These things, in order, in the trees and non-trees themselves, only manifest one clear thing, which means that from the moment of agreement, only the thing that is seen will become a tree. In the moment of expression, the manifestation is not like this, in the moment of agreement,

Because other appearing aspects do not appear. Wanting to completely abandon the statement that others say is not pervasive in eliminating other meanings of sound, so temporarily, in order to establish a part of the previous school, it is said "vase etc." etc. The word "etc." includes all, whole, what is said, and what is measured. Why do these not distinguish other meanings? It is said "from where" etc. "From where" means from non-knowable. If asked why there is no non-knowable? It is said "from that" etc. Those who speak of distinction must admit that from non-knowable, knowable is the object as different. If it is not like that, then how to distinguish knowable from non-knowable? Therefore, just from the non-knowable taking the knowable as a different object, because wanting to take the non-knowable as non-knowable, because it is impossible to show distinction from something that has not been taken as an object. If you say so, then there is no fault, because like this, the doubter of the mind of a doubtful person, is removed from some things, and then in order to make that mind itself enter into some certain things, the teacher will skillfully use some sounds. With the sentence "in order to enter into some things", it explains the following, and with the sentence "removed from some things", it explains the removal. If asked why remove from some sounds, and enter into some things, not just through establishment? It is said "its meaning" etc., in order to grasp the meaning of the sound with certainty. Otherwise, if that sound does not distinguish anything, then the use of sound will become meaningless. Because what is the reason for that, therefore it is said "therefore" etc. "Words" etc., the word "etc." includes all and whole etc. What kind of difference is there? It is said "in name also belongs to all dharmas". Name is the nature of establishing and refuting with sound. For that meaning belongs to all dharmas, abiding in the worldly use, is the synonym of "all dharmas". Of name.
