The nature of the ground is only to give rise to confusion, but through transmission, it is said that manifest phenomena are the cause. If the general consciousness does not manifest its own nature, then how does one enter into worldly conventions from the knowledge of sound and the recollection of one's own meaning? Therefore, it is said, "Even if it does not appear," and so on. Even if one's own nature does not appear, due to clinging to meaningless phenomena that appear to oneself as meaningful, worldly conventions are established and entered into through the cause of confusion. That is to say, appearance and the meaning to be distinguished are regarded as one and entered into, this is the concluding word. If there is no non-different self-nature, is it unreasonable to have a consciousness with a non-different aspect? If so, then all phenomena must also have a non-different aspect. In response to this, it is said, "The appearing," and so on. The general aspect that appears to the discriminating consciousness does not exist in phenomena, because for the distinct general phenomena that appear, there is no unrecognized invisibility, and non-difference does not follow the appearing phenomena like a shadow. If there is no non-different self-nature, is it permissible to say that there is no connection between discriminations with non-different aspects? Therefore, it is said, "The non-non-difference of the distinct is not," and so on. Distinctness is the elimination of otherness. It itself is non-non-different. For example, just as the appearance of a cow, for the appearance of one cow, is the elimination from non-cows, so too are others the same. Therefore, in this way, the non-non-difference of the distinct only applies to those that contradict their own nature and different categories of phenomena. The meaning of the word "not" is not intention, but is expressed through distinction. Therefore, the meaning of the word is this: As previously stated, in this way, other than the distinct non-non-difference of the self-nature of one's own nature, the appearing aspect does not exist in phenomena. However, in the self-nature of the nature, due to contradicting different categories of phenomena, only non-non-difference exists in all phenomena. Moreover, naturally, through transmission, it is thought to be the seed of direct perception with a general aspect. The elimination of otherness of the self-nature of one's own nature is also only the subject of discrimination through transmission, but not through appearance.
