It is said, "For example, by experience," and so on. Thus, the consciousness that arises from the habit left by the experience of things is the form of the experienced thing, which is the meaning. In the present case, because of experiencing things, it is reasonable that past events can arise from such experiences. Then, how should future events be understood? Because there is no experience in the future. To this, there will also be the sound of "This thing will happen in the future," and the conceptualization mixed with speech arises, which itself is self-awareness, so it is such an experience, and it arises from the habit left by that experience, so there is no fault. Similarly, for the conceptualizations of Ishvara and others, it should also be explained as arising from the habit of experience with the conceptualization in the form of sound, as stated in the scriptures. In this way, since the past and so on are not objects, it is certain that "what is not beneficial is not an object." If this is the case, then the light that has not been proven to be beneficial, because it is not an object, will not appear in the general consciousness. Therefore, saying "because it appears in consciousness, the lights are able to function" is said to be uncertain. Now, because appearance is acknowledged, in order to show uncertainty, "existence and non-existence" and so on are said. If consciousness exists, things exist; if consciousness does not exist, things do not exist, which is following existence and non-existence. Therefore, it is evident that things have a function in consciousness. But this is not because of appearance. In this way, from the thing itself, the consciousness of general conceptualization does not appear, but this is because its function is acknowledged. This is indicated by "except for light" and so on: except for light, there is no general appearance. The consciousness of conceptualization with general appearance is only the consciousness with the form of color and shape, etc. For this consciousness, other general forms other than the forms of color, etc., do not appear. In general, it is not the nature of color and shape, etc.
