What is called "eating dog meat," what प्रमाण (pramāṇa, means of valid cognition) is there here to prove that it is meaningless? In some sense, what is the difference between those who are close to desiring to be free from saṃsāra and ascend to the heavens, offering sacrifices to the fire god or giving alms? Just as people want to manifest, pouring ghee etc. into the fire, that is the meaning (of the sacrifice). But the special thing about eating dog meat, I have not seen. Can the intention of the words of a hidden teacher be understood by me as it is? Or does this overturning lead to everything becoming absurd, is it not the same? It is not so, because the explainer himself can clearly express the intention, so there is the possibility of correct instructions. This does not exist in language without a teacher. When those with worldly knowledge speak, they follow the well-known conventions of the world. Through these conventions, people can understand the meaning. Non-human language is not so, because no one wants to express anything in it. Furthermore, the reason that the wise follow will involve the basis of what should be abandoned and what should be accepted, but not through exaggerated words, therefore, the degree of absurdity is not the same. This will also manifest according to the specific situation. For things like worldly common sense that are not in the realm of reason, is it not understood through the words of a trustworthy person? It is not so, because there is no certainty. In some cases there is no error, but this does not mean that all cases are like that, because people see errors, and its application is not universal and infallible. Therefore, people think that the definition of scripture itself has no opportunity, so certainty cannot be obtained from it. Therefore, it has been said that scripture is not a reliable means of valid cognition. Understanding the meaning of non-human language does not come from correct instructions, nor from reason, nor from worldly common sense. Therefore, without understanding, there is no rationality. If the world is the cause of understanding well-known words, then, for words with various meanings, what is used to distinguish these meanings? How can one see objects beyond the senses? From the connection between non-human language and meaning...

This worldly term is not so. What is it then? It is conventional, because the author of the treatise relies on his own convention to explain. Like the terms of Panini's disciples and so on. That which is not made by a person is not reasonable, because it is unknown to anyone, and because it is beyond the senses. If it is to be grasped by the senses, then like form and so on, it would be too much to become self-realization. Even if it is a teaching, it is not reliable because it cannot truthfully explain the reality of autonomous people. If it is explained like the Vedas, and it is not made by a person, it comes from an unbroken lineage of beginningless, true mantras, and meaning is accomplished from it. If it is the nature of sound, then how can it be refuted and examined by saying that this is knowledge of meaning? For the time being, the meaning of sounds that are conventionally agreed upon by people themselves, even a cow's horn cannot understand, but it can make it understand, so there is a way for people to understand the meaning of what is made. Sounds that are not made by people do not work that way. Because no one can definitively know the connection between them. Therefore, there is no understanding of its meaning. Furthermore, when the Vedas or its separate explanations are spoken by a person to a person, the so-called following of the true, imperishable mantra also needs to rely on oaths, because it is seen that some people think they can destroy the scriptures, or hate its teachings extremely, or in order to demean those who enter it, suppress with cunning, or for other reasons, they create in other ways. Furthermore, here, you think that people are defiled by greed and so on, and they will also lie, so saying "these words are not प्रमाण (pramāṇa, प्रमाण, pramaaNa, valid cognition)" is a statement that you admit yourself, because you are attached to your own words. Why don't you examine "is that here or not"? That itself, when explaining the Vedas or the meaning of the Vedas, will explain in other ways due to confusion. Some people have the ability
