It is the difference of self-nature. Similarly, the cause is also the self-nature that produces such a result. If it arises from something else, then because it is not the self-nature of that (other), it will never arise at any time. Or, that is not smoke, because it arises from something that is not the self-nature of producing smoke. If it is its own self-nature, then because it is not that (other), there is no confusion. If Indra's head is the self-nature of fire, then it itself is fire. If so, it is not the self-nature of fire, how can smoke arise from that? The self-nature of the cause of smoke is not fire, it has the difference of the power of that (fire). If smoke does not arise from the cause of smoke, then it becomes without cause. This is called the summary verse. So now, how does the result arise from the separate things that work together? For example, like consciousness arising from the eye and form, etc. The answer is, there is nothing that arises solely from its own self-nature. However, arising from a collection is its self-nature, and only that can be inferred. That collection itself is the basis on which the self-nature of the result exists. Because of that, the things that work together also produce countless things. Also, seeing that blue lotuses, etc., arise from slightly heavy things, etc., of different kinds, it can also be said that way, but because it is completely produced from its own seed, only its own self-nature is separate, because the self-nature of the cause is separate, such as arising from the seed and trunk of a water tree. Such things are distinguished in the world only in a clear and separate way. Therefore, with the result of a very distinct way of distinguishing, the cause is not confused. From following and reversing, seeing what follows what, the self-nature of that has the cause of that, therefore it does not arise from dissimilar things. This is called the summary verse. Therefore, because the things of cause and effect are established by seeing and not seeing once, one understands that by that, otherwise it is not, because following and reversing completely depend on seeing and not seeing.

Because in some cases, even though permanence is seen, it is seen as impermanent; and in some cases, even though permanence is not seen, it is mistaken for permanence. Second Chapter If it is said that because the result arises from the cause, it will not arise without a cause, then how will it not arise without self-nature? For self-nature, too, it will not arise without being; it is only related to existence. If a certain self-nature is only related to existence, then it is believed that it will not arise without existence. Because without it, existing things will disappear, because there is no difference. If a certain nature is said to depend only on existence, then it itself is actually existent. However, how can it exist if it loses itself? If, because there is no difference, whatever is created is impermanent, does this mean that one part of the avowed statement becomes the reason for the argument? There is no fault in this. Because all things, by their own nature, abide in their own essence, relying on separation from similar things and other things. Therefore, the meaning of separation from anything is distinguished and understood by its cause, kind, and characteristics. Therefore, any characteristic that can be understood cannot be replaced by other things, therefore, difference is definite. All things are only those that abide in their own essence. They do not mix with themselves or others, otherwise they would become non-others. Any essence of these things that is not different from them is not theirs, because in that case, they would not exist. It would become the same as them, because there is no difference, and there is no other difference apart from it. It itself is difference, because it is contradictory. It is also only unmixed, because it abides in itself. Even if it is related to many other things, it is not their generality, because it is not their essence. This also applies to things that have duality and so on, and to the substance of fruits. Even if it is related to other things, other things are not the same, but only related to it, like the connection between elements. Knowledge is also not an undifferentiated object.
