If it is considered that the dharma of reality is reasoning, then how is that, and if it is not considered reality, but rather appears as one's own nature in relation to some, and if it is not considered reality, but rather appears as different from one's own nature in relation to some, then for the things to be expressed by the words that express dharma and the possessor of dharma, there is no difference whatsoever, and this has already been explained in the Pramāṇavārttika. If it is said that it expresses the dharma of both, then it is not not becoming, therefore merely the negation that does not rely on reality does not contradict even what does not exist, for example, the bodilessness that is called "non-embodied" also applies to what has no proximate expression. If it is said that what has no proximate expression is not the object of negation because it does not exist, then, is it now the object of establishment? If it is said that it is not, then, how is it not the object of negation now? Because negation is the opposite nature of establishment. If it is thought that negation exists only in complete severance, therefore for what has no proximate expression, it is not non-embodiedness and so on, then, alas! This affliction of merely following the desire arising from convention and clinging to the determination of meaning is difficult to live with, even if one beats one's chest and wails, the world will not turn back. In order to understand the convention as it is, and the intention of applying words is also limited to that extent. Because there is no difference from desire, it will lead to the fault that neither can be understood. Understanding from that also depends on convention, and that is the same in other respects as well. Therefore, merely that kind of distinction exists for both. If it exists, then entering into the incompatible aspect, the need for existence is completely cut off, how can one possess the understanding itself obtained through severance? For the dharmas of knowable itself and so on, if they are not the nature of distinction, then how can they be established by thought even on non-existent things? Because it is uncommon, these are also spoken of by it. Because it speaks of it in its own words as the dharma of both, this existence also applies to others, and it is not confused about what exists, how can it not be admitted? Confusion is because it enters into the incompatible aspect, therefore with aspect

Any common aspects, etc., are faultless even if they are properties of both, because they do not belong to the dissimilar side. If it is said that the subject itself is not a place of error, then what here belongs to the dissimilar side? It is that which does not need to be proven. Then, how does the reason, which does not belong to the dissimilar side, become a property of both? The non-erroneousness of the reason does not depend on the distinction of the side that agrees with the subject, because it exists in reality. If it is said that, apart from the subject, whatever is produced is impermanent, then it is not to be shown by establishing the invariable concomitance of the reason, but rather, that all that is produced is impermanent, which is the pervasion that comes from the power of reality itself, is what needs to be shown by valid cognition. If it is established in that way, it will become an understanding of that property, otherwise it will not. Because whatever a person wants to prove is the subject, therefore whatever is seen as a place of error will become the definite subject, because a person's involvement is not under the control of other things. For the object of inference, there is no harm from direct perception, etc., because if one valid cognition is harmed by another valid cognition, then it would follow that it is not a valid cognition. If it harms something that possesses characteristics, then it will become a refutation of its characteristics. This has already been said. If non-harm is also a characteristic, then its characteristic is uncertain, and even then it is not an understanding, so for whose sake is there no error? What kind of thought is proven by what? Therefore, with respect to things, whether something is pervaded by something or not, because it is not an understanding or not an understanding, the properties of things are not established by a person's desire. When someone makes this the subject, there is no error, but to others, it is erroneous, therefore it is a very pure valid cognition. If it is said that, with respect to the meaning that only pervades things, if there is a property that is without distinctions, then that reason will become contradictory, because that distinction does not exist in any thing, and it exists in all non-things. Therefore, all three of these properties exist, and are reasons for proving existence.
