The meanings are different, showing various functions. Those who have not seen the determining factor think that sound itself has various abilities. There will inevitably be doubt, because there is no other possibility. Some say that this road is like this, this piece of wood will speak, and others say that they themselves will speak, please carefully distinguish these differences. For the same meaning that applies to everything, from where does the clear manifestation arise? Apart from the certainty of wanting to express, who can know things beyond the senses? The certainty of wanting to express is the cause, and the symbol is its manifestation. If it does not exist in the non-living, then how can it become something with the same meaning? If self-nature is certain, then it is also not applicable to others. Symbols will also become meaningless. Distinguish self-nature from symbols, from where does clear certainty arise? For those whose desires are autonomous, where is there something called certainty? Therefore, symbols are applicable, but cannot merely manifest desires. The verses in between. Because knowledge is one-sided, others are also like this, for example, it is true that fire can dispel cold. Others also say this. Because the tastes are similar and the essence is the same, just like dyeing in the same container. Because it has remaining confusion, knowledge prevents this confusion through recognition. Purusha (पुरुष, puruṣa, Purusha, person) is the eternal author, things are eternal, beyond the senses. What is taken by the senses and things, the cause and existence of destruction are not the same. In addition, the measure (प्रमाण, pramāṇa, measure, प्रमाण) becomes the object of clear manifestation in two ways. Or inference relying on the scriptures, and contradictory things are the expresser. Without completely eliminating contradictions, even if the doctrine is shown, it is not shown, but it is admitted to be true, and the prostitute wins with lies. If the measure is established in this way, then what is not the measure? For what many people say, it is not that there is no true meaning. Sound exists in the speaker, is this not the self-nature or result of things? Even if completely denied from it, there is no existence without confusion. If the expresser functions by seeing what is expressed, then how can mutually contradictory meanings become one? Therefore, if the scriptures and things, without any form of the knower, will not arise, will not be established, then what meaning can be determined from it?

. Therefore, even if it is reversed, it cannot be established without things. Therefore, there is no definite result, and it cannot be established without observation. Some say that the Vedas contradict valid cognition, wanting to gain merit through bathing, and being arrogant because of learning. Saying that suffering is created to destroy sins, these are the five signs of the degeneration of the wisdom of fools. In the verses of Pramāṇavārttika, the first chapter is self-benefit inference. The valid cognition that has no deception, exists in things that can function. That which is produced from the language of non-deception, is also to show the intention of manifestation. The object of the speaker's action, the thing that is very clear in the mind, for it, language is valid cognition. The truth of things is not the cause. In order to grasp what is held, the conventional is not wanted, the mind is valid cognition. For things to be taken and abandoned, entering is the main thing, therefore. Because the types of objects are different, the cognition of the mind is also different. If it exists, this exists. From oneself, one recognizes one's own nature, from terminology it is valid cognition. The treatise is to eliminate ignorance. Even if it is the manifester of things that are not understood, after recognizing one's own nature, one can obtain knowledge of the universal image. Not knowing one's own characteristics, because one thinks what is knowledge, therefore in order to study one's own characteristics. The Bhagavan who has it is valid cognition. The unborn is to eliminate the meaning, because transformation has been said, therefore, proof needs to rely on everything. Valid cognition is not permanent, because recognizing the real is valid cognition, and because the knowable is impermanent, therefore it is unstable. Things that arise in sequence, it is unreasonable to arise from the permanent, because reliance is not allowed. Because benefit cannot be applied in various ways, even impermanence is immeasurable. The difference in staying, entering, shape, and functioning, etc., either the intention is established, or the example is not established, or doubt arises. Having the blessing of existence or non-existence, how are shapes etc. established, what can be inferred from it, that is logic. Established on different things, because the sounds are the same and there is no difference, inference is not logic, just like fire arising from the body of a person. If it is not like this, then the potter makes some changes to the pots etc. made of clay.
