It has been controlled. For one's own actions, that is, The action of one's own nature, or, The nature that harms the meaning, If it exists, because it exists, or because it doesn't exist? Because the otherness of each other is established, Like permanence and destruction. Also, because it is harmed by other valid cognitions, Like that which is transformed by it and dependent. From the arising near from another cause, How could there be no being eaten by demons? If it arises from the cause of things, What can be done by the fatigue of transmission? If that cause produces another destruction, Because that will become destruction, The thing itself is destructive, What will happen if it is produced in the nature of destruction? If that is self-established, What benefits the self? If it does not benefit the self, What does it depend on? An independent thing never, How could it not be like that? For example, it itself in the destructive eon, Does not want to rely on dwelling. If there is no dependence, even for a moment, Will the thing not exist? If so, then it is the thing itself. How could non-thing be like that? Those that exist, do not depend on others, Those exist, because they exist. Like that which hinders the work of the fruit, Like the collection of non-existents. Even those with small intellectual abilities cannot realize the profound truth. Even those who are extremely diligent cannot see the supreme truth. For beings, equally well-spoken, re-holding, my treatise is unattainable. Like a river entering the ocean, it dissolves and disappears into its own body. Skilled in distinguishing between right and wrong, burning the thicket of wrong views. Being embraced by the noble ones, showing the path of correct wisdom. The treatise is like the sun, possessing a hundred qualities, abandoning evil thoughts, abandoning fear. Although it is so, the pure eye of wisdom is what opens the lotus of the wise. The chapter on the meaning for others in the "Commentary on Valid Cognition," that is, the fourth chapter. This chapter of the "Commentary on Valid Cognition" is what appeared in the southern region, causing all evil treatises to be extremely confused, the beautiful fame spread throughout the entire earth, the incomparable great scholar, the glorious Dharmakirti, completed the composition. །།Indian Abbot Subhutishri
