Some proponents say that inference of what has gone before is of three kinds: associated with what came before, associated with what remains, and generally visible. However, direct precedence is not reasonable, because the relationship is not apprehended by the senses. The relationship between the sign and the sign-possessor is not an object of sensory cognition, nor are the sign and the sign-possessor manifest, so how can it become an inference of what has gone before? How is it expressed? If "associated with what came before" means similar to what came before, so it is like what came before, becoming an expression of "like," or if it has the qualities of what came before, so it is associated with it, becoming an expression of "associated," then what does that become? Because all are possible, it is not "like." "All" means that just as one grasps the relationship through inference, experiencing it, so later one also grasps what is to be inferred through the sign. Therefore, one should not say, "One of its is like what has gone before." From other relationships, one can also understand, "This is like the previous one," because one has not seen it, one should not attach the expression "like" to the inference of what has not been seen. Because it is mistaken, it is not "associated." If making "associated" is reasonable, if one makes the result associated with what came before because it existed here before, then the cognition of that object will also be associated with what came before, and if one cognizes the result in the cause, then because that is mistaken, it is not valid cognition. Even if the cause exists, allowing it to be true, there is the possibility of obstacles, and the possibility that other causes have not gathered, so the possibility that the result does not arise exists. Therefore, for the moment, being associated with what came before is not reasonable. For being associated with what remains, is it also "like"? If one says "like what remains," then the cognition that is the same as the later manifest and the object will also become "like what remains," but that is also mistaken, so it is not valid cognition, because merely having the same shape does not necessarily mean that the taste is the same. Therefore, one should not attach the expression "like" of "like what remains" to it. One cannot understand from other relationships either. One cannot change from being associated with what remains. If one is associated with what remains because one is associated with what remains, then the cognition of it will also be associated with what remains, then

However, if the effect is not grasped, then if the relationship of non-arising is grasped, and there is no way to infer the cause, then this is also visible. Likewise, from actions and so on, impermanence and so on can also be inferred. The inferences previously stated also cannot understand the relationship. Nor can it be understood from other relationships. It should be said like this, because it is visible in the latter. It would be a fault to infer that the consciousness with the aspect of effects and so on arises from the relationship of causes and so on. Only through the door of having a relationship, the consciousness of the sign and the sign-possessor arises, and in all aspects, the cause and effect are grasped by all selves. Thus, it is not reasonable to have the former and to have the remainder. It is the same for those who see later. Also, because it is said that the relationship of cause and effect can be measured from what is extremely hidden in the object. The measure of all inferential consciousnesses does not obtain other effects. It is also unreasonable to become a measure without effect, because it is the agent, the action of the action, and the effect. If it is said that the consciousness of the sign is a measure, then if it is said that the consciousness of the sign is a measure, then is the consciousness of inference the effect of the measure? This is also unreasonable. Also, it is not from different objects. Here, it becomes a measure in another object, and it becomes an effect in another object. This does not exist, as has been said before. If the consciousness of the sign is seen as a measure, then the distinction cannot be established. Whatever is inferred is said to have the former and to have the remainder. With the difference of the sign-possessor, they cannot be established, because the sign is the object. Also, it is not reasonable to determine that only the inference that has the former becomes three types, because it holds the three times. All inferences enter the object of the three times, because it is said to have the three times. In this way, the three types are unreasonable because there is no display of relationship. There, such an inference is also prevented. The Particularists say: This is
