If it is said that because the relationship is related to both, just as it fits perfectly, will the characteristic of the characterized (chos, thing) also become a characteristic (rtags, reason)? Answer: That is non-existent. Although it exists in two relationships, the power of the characteristic and the characterized (rtags can, the thing with characteristics) is the same, like the dependent and the depended, not like a perfect fit. Although it is true that it exists in two relationships, it does not become the dharma of the dependent and the depended just because of the relationship, or the dependent becomes the same as the dharma of the characterized, which does not exist anywhere. Similarly, the characteristic will not become the characterized, otherwise the change of characteristic and characterized does not exist anywhere. In a perfect fit, how does it relate to one, and also to the second. Therefore, that and this are not the same. Like this: the characteristic and the characterized themselves exist, on the other hand the characterized itself exists. The relationship between the characteristic and the characterized is reversed from the inference. Therefore, it is said that the characterized exists in the characteristic. Whatever exists only in fire, such as the nature of smoke, etc., can also be understood. But clarity and sharpness, etc., cannot be understood, so the characteristic does not exist in the characterized itself. Therefore, in other cases it is unreasonable, just like smoke itself, the grayness of smoke, etc., cannot be understood, but the nature, etc., are not said to be so. Therefore, the determination of the relationship between the characteristic and the characterized is reversed. If it is said that even if it is a characteristic, it will become a characterized, such as the made and impermanence, then the pervasiveness of the characteristic is also admitted. From that part, it is a characterized. From the pervasive part, it makes it understood. It is not like a horned cow. Although from a slight aspect, the characteristic will become a characterized, it is not part of the characteristic in a pervasive way, for example, although the horned itself pervades the cow, it does not make people understand the cow, but the pervasive itself is understood by the cow. Why? Because the non-confusion of each other's prevention is because it depends on the relationship. Therefore, even if there is a difference between the characteristic and the characterized, it is not the author. The made pervades the impermanent.

However, just as understanding is achieved by negating permanence, similarly, impermanence also understands by negating the non-arisen that pervades the arisen. Therefore, for the meaning of impermanence, since there is no opportunity for the arisen to pervade the non-arisen, impermanence, with respect to the arisen, becomes the negation of the non-arisen to be understood, but not understanding itself. It is also said: Destruction by what is made, Is not by what is not pervasive. Because the permanent lacks pervasion, It shows the meaning of non-pervasion. When having horns pervades a cow, It prevents the meaning of a cow without horns. Just as a cow pervades having horns, It does not prevent the meaning of a cow. These are verses for the occasion. The inference of one's own meaning is definitely shown. Arguing and establishing, etc., if it does not exist, it will not arise; seeing this meaning is the rational following inference. Regarding this, If seeing what does not arise when absent, Only sees its own aspect, If indeed what does not arise when absent, Only sees that which does not arise when absent, If one wishes so, then it should not, Be called 'awareness'. This sentence was added later. If again, this word 'awareness' is used, saying in another place, for example, if one wants to see the meaning of what does not arise when absent in another place, then how should this be called 'seeing'? If the meaning is what is to be proven, if again the word 'remaining meaning' is used, because it has reached the occasion of what is to be proven, then seeing the meaning of what is to be proven is the following inference; if it is thought that what does not arise when absent is itself awareness, then why say 'what does not arise when absent'? Like this, because 'what does not arise when absent' has been said before, so it also exists later, because 'what does not arise when absent' itself is known through 'seeing the meaning', and that is the following inference. From seeing smoke, etc., for fire, etc., what else is there to be inferred? The following inference itself, for example, seeing smoke, etc., on fire, etc., other than seeing, what other meaning is there to be inferred, what does not arise when absent, how can that be called awareness? When the meaning of dharma exists in many ways, How is that called awareness? When the meaning of dharma exists in many ways, what is the part to be understood by smoke? And from which part does the smoke clarify, has not been shown.
