The end from light to darkness refers to being born among gods and people of great power, but falling into the three lower realms and people of little power, like the miserly Joyful. The end from darkness to light refers to being born in the three lower realms and among people of little power, but being born in the realm of the gods and among people of great power, like the frog who was a son of the gods. These are the four types of individuals. Among them, please first accomplish going from light to light. Now, householders need to associate with many sentient beings, so in order to show how to properly treat them, the differences in their behavior are explained, such as "people are like mangoes," and so on. Mangoes are of four types: some appear to be ripe even though they are not, some are ripe but still have a green color and appear unripe, some appear unripe and are indeed unripe, and some appear ripe and are indeed ripe. Similarly, people should be understood as being of four types: the first is one whose thoughts are degenerate but whose actions are perfect; the second is one whose actions are degenerate but whose thoughts are perfect; the third is one who is degenerate in both; and the fourth is one who is perfect in both. For householders, because it is difficult to abandon sexual misconduct arising from desire, and because seeing another's wife is a prerequisite for generating sexual misconduct, in order to prevent this, it is said, "Do not look at another's wife," and so on. In the sutra, someone asked the Buddha: How should monks treat women? Ananda, the Buddha replied: By not looking at them. Here, because it is the case of householders, it is said, "another's wife." But if one happens to see them, then one should generate the thought of them as a mother, daughter, or sister. But this is not to be thought of casually, but rather in accordance with their age. Even if one thinks in this way, if lust arises, and one becomes attached through lust, then one should think of that woman as having a foul odor, having nine orifices, and so on, as will be explained, and one should correctly contemplate them as being impure.

One should act accordingly. If one has already considered something impure, but a pure thought arises, what should one do at that time? It is taught that one should guard one's mind. As it is said, "A wavering mind is like a son of hearing," meaning: just as in the world one guards important things like hearing, so too should you guard your mind. Here, if one guards one's mind, one will attain happiness, as the Blessed One said: "Subduing the mind brings happiness." Furthermore, like poisonous snakes and so on, one should become disillusioned with the pleasures of desire. Among them, a poisonous snake is the cause of displeasure, poison is the nature of killing, weapons are the cause of producing suffering, enemies are the cause of creating obstacles to happiness, fire is the cause of burning, and objects are also the cause of harming oneself and others, and are unpleasant like poisonous snakes. Virtuous actions are harmed, and like poison, they have the nature of killing. Leading to the lower realms, like weapons, they are the cause of producing suffering. Causing the decline of the perfections of gods and humans, like enemies, they are the cause of creating obstacles to happiness. Causing regret, like fire, they are the cause of burning. Therefore, one should be disillusioned with the pleasures of desire.

Precisely because it diminishes, the King of Victors said it is like a kimpa fruit. For example, a kimpa fruit is good only on the outside, but bad on the inside. Furthermore, desires are the cause of being bound in samsara, so they should be abandoned, which is what this shows. Its iron chains bind this world in the prison of samsara, meaning that the beings of the world are bound in the prison of samsara formed by the iron chains of desire. Now, in order to strengthen the resolve to subdue the senses through mantra, it is said, "Those who have the six senses and objects..." etc. Because it changes when it encounters objects, it is said to be unstable. It is shaken by the intense desire for objects. Those who conquer the six senses, and those who conquer the host of enemies on the battlefield, among them the wise and intelligent are: first, those who conquer the senses are truly brave and worthy of praise, this is the concluding remark. Just as animals also seem to be able to win on the battlefield, but they are not able to conquer the senses. In order to explain what was said, "One should also seriously contemplate impurity," it is said, "The body of a young woman is another matter..." etc. Among them, the word "body" should correspond one by one with "the body is smelly," etc. Here, it is said that the body is not good in five ways: it is smelly, has a shape, is a source of impurity, cannot be satisfied, and has no essence inside. Therefore, even a young woman's body like this should be looked at separately, and the ornaments should also be looked at separately, so that the fire of desire can be calmed. If the ornaments and the body are confused, then the fire of desire will only spread, so you should not look at it that way, that is probably the meaning. Furthermore, if one wants to be close to the body in order to be satisfied, then desires cannot be satisfied even after millions of kalpas, so in order to explain what is the use of serving them, just like a leper
