Therefore, Your Majesty, you should ensure that the people attain fruition by practicing the sacred Dharma. This is saying that you should not be content with merely hearing, but should strive to practice its essence diligently. The so-called golden vessel, etc., refers to having obtained such a rare human body, if one does not perform virtuous deeds, one should be urged to do so through denigration. A golden vessel adorned with jewels should not be used to sweep away filth, nor should it be used in an inappropriate place, as this is despised by the world. If one is born as a human being and yet commits evil deeds, then that is even more deserving of condemnation, because a human body is even more difficult to obtain than a vessel of jewels. Now, beginning with the phrase "dwelling in a harmonious place," etc., it shows that the king is a vessel of the noble path. A harmonious place is one that is in harmony with that which allows the mind to abide in peace, because it is free from harm and injury. Relying on a holy person means relying properly on a spiritual friend. That is to say, whether one possesses complete scriptural knowledge or complete realization, whether one is equal in virtues or possesses superior virtues. Or, whether it is a friend or a trustworthy lama, whether one is skilled in speech, able to endure words, able to speak profound meanings, or abides therein, whichever it may be, anyone who, after learning from him, causes discipline, learning, generosity, and wisdom to increase is called a holy person. Making good aspirations oneself means accomplishing good deeds completely by doing as one has said. Having accumulated merit in the past also shows that one has accumulated provisions. These are called wheels because they are the chariot of the noble path. Because you possess these four great wheels, you should strive to generate the noble path, this is his thought. Beginning with relying on a spiritual friend, etc., it shows that in generating the noble path, relying on a holy person is the most important. The venerable Ananda to the Blessed One

For example, it was reported that virtuous spiritual friends and virtuous companions are half of pure conduct. The Blessed One said, "Ananda, do not say that virtuous friends are half of pure conduct. Ananda, you should say that virtuous spiritual friends and virtuous companions are those who accomplish perfect pure conduct. Why is that? Ananda, those who have the nature of birth rely on virtuous spiritual friends and are completely liberated from birth." The Blessed One spoke extensively about this. Because the Blessed One spoke in this way, one should rely on excellent individuals. Furthermore, how is it known that pure conduct is perfected by relying on excellent individuals? To the Victorious One: Having relied upon, Very many attain peace. This was said. Among these, "pure" refers to nirvana. Practicing for that meaning is pure conduct, which is the path. Therefore, the perfection of pure conduct is the cause of the exhaustion of all suffering, and the cause of the noble path is the virtuous spiritual friend, as has been explained. Holding wrong views and so forth shows that one should not do good. Among these, holding wrong views refers to holding that there is no other world. Being born as an animal refers to being born in the place of birth of animals. Being born as a hungry ghost refers to being born in the world of hungry ghosts. Being born in hell refers to being born in the world of hell. The absence of the Victorious One's teachings is because there is no arising of a Buddha. Being born in a border region as a barbarian refers to being born there. Even if a Buddha arises, being foolish and mute refers to expressing oneself with gestures. Wherever one is born as a long-lived god, this refers to the formless and non-perceptual realms. In those eight places, there is no leisure to do good, so they are called "unfree." Because of experiencing faults, they are also called "defects." The defects of unfree states. Having obtained freedom from those, Strive to prevent rebirth. This was said, and henceforth being born in those unfree places as
