Of speech (misconduct). Among them, bodily (misconduct) is: here, although belonging to the Sangha, they do not serve the elders and monks much; they possess a mind that is hateful, distant, and unpleasant; they are suppressed due to their untamed nature; their nature is extremely coarse; they are intoxicated with arrogance due to gain and respect; they are arrogant towards the elderly monks; they walk and sit, even when there is no need to do so, they walk ahead, sit on high seats, and when they see those, even when they go near, they do not greet them, do not rise from their seats, and do not prostrate. Those people walk without shoes, while they themselves walk with shoes; those people walk in low places, while they themselves walk on high places with cushions; they obstruct them with cushions; they treat the younger ones with contempt; when bathing, they arrogantly enter the water's edge in front of the elderly monks; they enter ahead, bathe arrogantly, walk arrogantly, come out first, and when entering another's house, they also walk arrogantly in front of the elderly monks; even when there is no need to do so, they walk ahead to despise them; in secluded houses and residences, they allow women of good families or young women to enter without discrimination, and they stroke the heads of young boys. Such actions are bodily misconduct. What will you eat? What will you drink? What will you give today? They say this, completely mocking and slandering, and such things are misconduct of speech.

In short, all actions and speech related to the violation of discipline are not rituals. It should be known that the actions that are antidotal are the true rituals. The so-called ritual is to cherish and respect the elder monks, the middle monks, and the new monks, with loving physical and verbal actions, delighting in tranquility, causing others to have faith, adorned with shame and embarrassment, without hypocrisy, not greedy for gain and respect, following the principles of discipline, completely holding with mindfulness and awareness, walking, wrong views, various views, the kasaya, the alms bowl, the Dharma robes are all well displayed, walking, standing, sitting, lying down, etc., or in all places and at all times, respectfully doing as it is said in the code of conduct, this is called ritual. Furthermore, the sphere of activity originally refers to the place where cattle are grazed, so it is called the sphere of activity. Here, because it is similar to the sphere of activity of cattle, it is called the sphere of activity. For example, the color, health, happiness, and life of cattle are all benefited, possessing perfect conditions, without the harm of mosquitoes, horseflies, poisonous snakes, and ferocious beasts, possessing all kinds of green grass, possessing clean water sources, the season is appropriate, possessing perfect groups of tree shade, this is the sphere of activity of cattle. Similarly, the discipline, faith, diligence, mindfulness, samadhi, wisdom, etc. of a monk, if one can determine to rely on them, they will bring benefits, this is called the sphere of activity. Furthermore, the non-sphere of activity refers to the places where prostitutes, witches, young women, widows, wandering people, etc. reside, which are suitable for creating obstacles, as well as places mixed with disobedient kings, ministers of kings, Brahmins, householders, various heretics, and families who believe in the Shravaka path, as well as places that tend to the fears of Shramanas and Shramanas, not defiled by the five sensual pleasures, possessing the happiness of relying on a virtuous friend, possessing a remote dwelling place, like this kind of place.
