By relying on the supreme conduct, one grasps the qualities, and completely abandons attachment to the slightest comfort of the body. Thus, one obtains the qualities that are without concealment. With the radiant light of the constellations of jewels, the curtain of the sky is adorned with the lamps of the sun and moon. So many worlds, together with mountains, are magnificent temples endowed with exquisite palaces. Because one is perfectly endowed with this collection of qualities, it is called "the merit of practice"; and because it purifies faults, it is called "the merit of practice." For example, just as one says "drinking, drinking" when an elephant drinks water, or "eating" when eating food, like deleting the previous sentence, being insatiable, and being excessively mixed with noise, laziness, sleep, and purifying the faults of noise, it is called "practice." These vows are the opposite of faults, so they are called "practice," and these are the distinctions of the objects upon which vows are based. This is praised and upheld by the supreme Hearers, and because it is the supreme accomplishment of necessities, it should be truly upheld. Similarly, because these, after being fully upheld, are the uncommon characteristics of the sins of desire, mental distraction, inferiority, and universal ignorance, and because they separately abandon sins such as insatiability and attachment, they are the commonality of all, and are the ultimate things to be done. Moreover, like offering to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, those without desire and ignorance, because it is a purifying Dharma, it is virtuous. Therefore, a monk should dwell in a monastery, mindful of future fears, maintaining diligence, effort, and benefiting himself supremely. The Dharma teacher should contemplate and practice accordingly, in order to dispel the distraction caused by a monk's weariness of monastic life due to evil speech. Followers of carelessness, sleep, and laziness become weary from remembering the comforts of householders. With wrong effort, one rejoices in the forest, and is distracted in the monastery by joy, laughter, and so on. One dwells in the monastery with sinful desires, being inferior and unskilled.

It will turn into ignorance. A person with a distracted mind is very easily distracted, and one with good conduct will not be the recipient of those evils. Obvious to evil, feeling depressed everywhere, especially when young, it is easy to be distracted by purity. Towards evil, one should have a harsh mind like an enemy, and towards tranquility, one should show diligence, and those who are stable appear dignified. Likewise, regarding robes made of rags and the like, virtuous men should properly contemplate pure and impure dharmas, correctly receive the merits of practice, and should not praise themselves, slander others, or follow impure paths. These are the main implements, not the capital of arrogance. One should not taste the gains, respect, and praise obtained through them, and one should remember the example of Devadatta falling due to gains, respect, and praise. When a monk wears robes made of rags, he should also hold the robes made of rags and maintain extreme tranquility in accordance with them. Otherwise, if a monk is arrogant and unstable, wearing robes made of rags is like a monkey wearing a tiger skin, and the robes made of rags do not make him appear dignified. Those who are without arrogance and are stable in nature, without sin and able to subdue their senses, the robes made of rags make them appear dignified, like a lion in the mountains. Even if those who have no faith or little faith will slander these, but whatever slander is received, this is the law of the world, so one should not abandon one's vows, but should overcome it with a mind of patience. Likewise, when begging for alms, when entering a city or village to beg for alms, one should regard oneself as a vessel with completely pure discipline and virtuous intention, and after asking a spiritual teacher or a fellow practitioner equal to him, put on clothes, tie a belt, and with mindfulness and awareness, take the Dharma robes and alms bowl, tie the knots, put on shoes, and when entering the village at the appropriate time, one should also know the position of the sun and the time before entering. For example, living by begging for alms is the lowest way of life, and people will say, 'Like this, shave your head, hold a clay bowl in your hand, wear tattered clothes, and wander around begging in other people's villages!'
