Sa means to obtain. Begging for alms means wandering for alms in the homes of the inferior, intermediate, and superior. Or, because this state of asceticism involves wandering for alms, it is called an almsman. The very object of that is the almsman. This is also done by the one who has taken a vow. Abandoning pride and enduring contempt, One's own body endures weariness, The suffering of the bonds brought by guests, Is not something a beggar can engage in. The great treasure of generosity, vast happiness, Even without speaking, causes beings to enter. The definite training of entering a home, With this conduct, a monk is extremely adorned. The conduct of a monk lives independently, Obtains through one's own effort, and lives in happiness. Not overwhelmed by the faults of wrong livelihood, This side is unobstructed anywhere. Wherever one dwells and goes forth, That is completely adorned by practicing in that way. For the sake of food, suffering does not arise, It is following the conduct of the noble ones. Wealth and relatives, beings, suffering, and home, Delicious food and so on, having abandoned all that, Having turned away from craving for food, Contentment is the manifestation of the object of a monk. By the power of the vow, one abandons food while staying on two seats. Having the state of partaking of food on one seat, therefore it is called one-seated. Some think that this is the ultimate of sitting on a seat, while others say that it is the ultimate of bathing. That is to say, even if one does not rise from that seat after eating, one does not take water for washing the bowl and eat again, and having obtained food separately, one does not eat again after eating the last morsel, that is said to be the ultimate of food. This is how one cultivates the vow. Because of the fault of eating repeatedly, The one-seated one does not abandon his own action. Diseases are reduced, harm is lessened, and the body becomes light, The rising of yoga also becomes easy because of this. Dwelling comfortably according to the ritual, walking in happiness, Following the conduct of the Able One, The qualities of contentment and easy nourishment are in accordance, Not stained by the mud of the happiness of food.

He does not dwell in quiet places, but delights in meditation and its accompanying practices. Because he delights in this, it is essential to be extremely peaceful, and the direction of afflictions is easily abandoned. With vows preceding, the state of abandoning noise and dwelling is what makes him a "silent one." He is one who vows to perform virtuous deeds for sentient beings. He is not overcome by the thick darkness of sleep, and his mind is not controlled by the comfort of bedding. His attachment to this body is slight, and from this, equanimity dwells in bliss. He cultivates the strength to abandon laziness, and is not distracted from accomplishing his own Dharma activities. By gradually relying on lightness, he mostly does not experience the fault of fatigue. With legs crossed, the body remains upright, diligently engaging in meditation. A monk, whether walking, standing, lying down, or sitting, does not possess such a glorious peace. The so-called "one who does not take food after noon" refers to someone who does not eat after noon. With vows preceding, he refrains from eating excessive food and abandons it, hence he is called "one who does not take food after noon." The very essence of it is "one who does not take food after noon." He has abandoned eating after noon, because he has taken vows. He is without greed and content, and in accordance with the way of faith. Again, having abandoned the labor of seeking food, with just that, he possesses rare rituals. Having the same desires is the glory of virtue. He is free from the ritual of abandoning and eating, observing and abandoning the manner of suffering. This is restorative nourishment, blissful and light in body. Because he possesses three Dharma robes, he is called the "possessor of three Dharma robes," namely: the sanghati, the upper robe, and the lower robe. With vows preceding, abandoning permanence, he maintains the state of possessing three Dharma robes, hence he is called the "possessor of three Dharma robes." The very essence of it is "the possessor of three Dharma robes." With just the three Dharma robes, he enters contentment and lightness. Because of attachment to many things, he abandons clothes and other items. Having taken them like birds, he can go wherever he pleases. He does not abandon the permission to abandon, and therefore the monk is without afflictions. Transgressions exceeding ten days do not occur to one who possesses these Dharma robes. The act of examining robes exists in this.
