Fire. The direction became a place of burning. When the Asuras, desiring to be destroyed, entered the battlefield, it was like releasing anger with a hundredfold rage. Likewise, a hundred sparks of fire spewed forth flames, and the terrible vajras of Indra fell. Like those lashed by the winds of destruction, the tips of those grasping things fell, and the vines and trees caused stinging pain. The wind carrying dusters shook violently. Trees soaked with muddy water, like a young swan king, with bodies completely entwined. The light with a slightly unpleasant color, destroyed the light, and the moon became clearly visible. Even without clouds, though the moon remained in the sky, terrible darkness spread in all directions. For a moment, sorrow overwhelmed everything, and the rivers immediately flowed with warm water. Then, the Sal trees growing nearby, blooming with beautiful flowers at an untimely moment, bowed down and poured onto the body of the great sage, like pouring onto the statue on a golden dais. In the sky, the motionless Nagas with five heads, with eyes reddened separately by sorrow, deeply asleep, with bodies raising their upper halves, remained there gazing respectfully at the Thubpa. All the suffering that went within, permeated with extremely warm breaths. Realizing that the nature of beings is impermanent, those who had not experienced sorrow also began to condemn sorrow. The sacred assembly of King Vaishravana, fully immersed in the rituals of the excellent Dharma, filled with devotion to the Dharma, did not grieve, nor did they shed tears on the divine image. Even the capable gods dwelling in pure places, with true and profound respect for the great sage, remained in their own state, without undergoing any change, merely condemning the nature of the world. The kings of the Gandharvas, and then the kings of the Nagas, the Yakshas, and the gods who delight in the true Dharma, were all immersed in sorrow, absorbed in supreme grief, their mouths uttering sounds like the decline of a great lineage. In the heart
