For that being who has manifestly come into existence, The Buddha has spoken of the eightfold path. The path of complete exhaustion is like the four perfect mindfulnesses. Having heard, who truly understands by what means? He, for the other path that has been seen before, He does not thereby attain the ultimate sacredness, But having especially obtained the path not seen before, With darkness in his heart, he abandons that path. Darkness increases greatly together with dust, The non-virtuous actions of those are called 'Sog'. Dust increases greatly together with vigor, The virtuous actions of those are called 'Gya'. When vigor increases through hearing, thought, and effort, Because dust and black darkness have no form, From the decline of action, action goes to exhaustion, The action of those is called 'Tobpa'. Dust and darkness, which make the mind deluded, Are said to exist naturally in the world. Therefore, those two do not exhaust, because they are stable, They are well established as being naturally stable. Even if those become happy through the application of vigor, They will arise again due to the power of time, Like cool water gradually becoming hot, It will naturally proceed through the course of time. For the increase of vigor, which is of a permanent nature, Hearing, thought, and effort are not capable, If that does not increase, then those do not decline, If those do not decline, then there is no pacification. Previously, he thought that it arose from nature, But he did not see liberation there, Like the fading of the light of a blazing fire, If one abides in nature, then what is ultimate? That very thing is seen by the path of the Buddha, That world understands by relying on existence, It is reasonable that pacification comes from its complete decline, Because the cause completely declines, the result declines. This is the clear, unchanging self, He previously understood that it is other than the body, Having fully obtained the speech of the Able One, the world Knows that there is no self and nothing to be made into a self. Phenomena arise by relying on many separate causes, Having fully known that oneself has no power, He thoroughly enters into the very nature of suffering, And will surely turn back.
