Thus it is. The body is not made of various clothes or ornaments, or garlands. Wherever you masters are, if you want to know the Dharma and discipline, you should follow those who have renounced, the blessed ones are my rules. In times when it is difficult to find a noble being, become protectors of those who abide in the Dharma. It is not the later places, those with little merit cannot do it. Those with glorious great merit, those who know the Dharma and protect it, only by protecting it, this place is also held by the Dharma. For those who want to cross the wind, it is like crossing the best of the herd. The place guarded by the kings, beings are born from there. You who hold the precepts, should always be like this. For those who want to benefit themselves, they should not plunder here or go elsewhere. Contentment, being respected, gaining wealth, fame and trust, joy and happiness after going, are the great rewards of holding precepts. Just as the earth is the basis of earth, water, fire, and wind, so is discipline the basis of all virtues. Wanting to fly without wings, wanting to cross without a boat, if a person completely abandons discipline, but wants auspiciousness, it should be known that it is like this. Like a tree covered with flowers and fruits, but full of thorns. Learned and knowledgeable, possessing excellent meaning, but with broken discipline, it is like that. Even if wearing gorgeous clothes and ornaments, living in high-rise buildings, anyone with discipline walks with the immortals. Red monastic robes, bark clothes, right shoulder exposed, hair buns and messy hair on the top of the head, for all those with broken discipline, it should be known that this is just a disguise. Bathing three times from the platform, burning twice in the fire, or suffering severe pain, without discipline it is not self. Giving the body to meat eaters, or throwing it from a cliff, or jumping into fire or water, without discipline it is not self. Eating fruits, roots, drinking water, or eating grass like a deer, or wanting to eat wind, without discipline it will not change. Anyone who lacks discipline is like a bird and a wild animal. Like a broken container holding water, that is not the Dharma.

It is not a container. Fear and bad words, Distrust and displeasure, Manifestly obtained here, Going, it will be consumed without meaning. Therefore, do not destroy the discipline. Like a guide in a wilderness monastery, Freedom is difficult to obtain, The discipline is a boat to the higher realms. Faults destroy, and the mind destroys, Entering after destroying everything, Having thoroughly established discipline, Strive to destroy afflictions. Therefore, first the thought of "I", Should be abandoned by those who wish to adorn themselves. Like the smoke of burning food, The thought of "I" dims the qualities. The stars, sun, and moon, Like a great net of clouds. The qualities destroyed by pride, Even if they exist, they are not beautiful. Arrogance destroys shame, Sorrow makes the joyful body emaciated. From the root of the qualities, Destroys, therefore the thought of "I" arises. From pride associated with competition, The Asuras and gods have been destroyed, The stump of the un-guarded Tala tree, And the three holes have been exhausted. For impermanent things, Thinking "I am the most supreme", Thinking "I am not inferior", Know that this is not a wise person. Form is not permanent, It is of the nature of destruction, by movement, Whoever is arrogant because of "I", Is this not a complete delusion? The desire of lust is powerful, It is a hidden, innate enemy, Like acting among non-friends, Who can destroy it through the door of friendship? The fire of desire and fire itself, Are the same in the nature of burning, When the fire of desire blazes, The night becomes long. How is the power of the fire of desire, The power of fire matures in the same way. Fire can be extinguished by water, The fire of desire cannot be extinguished even by the ocean. When the forest is burned by fire in season, The trees of the forest grow, The fire of desire burns the ignorant, They do not grow in the Dharma. Seeking happiness from attachment, Doing unwholesome deeds for happiness, From unwholesome deeds, falling into hell. There is no enemy greater than attachment. From attachment arises craving, From craving, attachment to desires, From desires, suffering is obtained. There is no place like attachment. Attachment is called a great disease, Children do not understand it. From impermanence and impurity
