Just as one delights in giving with joy and rejoices in the Dharma, it is not surprising to you to see this. Whoever emerges from the confines of home, their purpose will not be frustrated. Likewise, when the fire of time consumes beings, whatever one gives, one will receive in return. Therefore, the Bodhisattvas who have renounced all attachments should give, and they should know how to properly enjoy the world. Seeing the faults of miserliness in the world, one should not indulge in enjoyment, but should give out of fear. At the right time, one should give up reproach and wealth, and likewise, one should wage war against glory and pride. Only the superior Bodhisattva understands this, not others. The Bodhisattva both gives and wages war. The giver goes to joy, and attains fame and a holy reputation. The holy ones praise the giver, giving them respect and prominence. Likewise, in the world, trust increases, and one does not suffer misfortune. Content with saying, "I have done good deeds," one does not go to fear at the time of death. The fruit of giving is only a flower here, but the fruit of the giver is much greater in the future. In the cycle of samsara, there is nothing more important for beings in samsara than giving and friendship. In the human world, what is born with one surpasses all that is combined with giving. Even those who dwell in the birthplaces of horses and elephants will obtain the principal fruit. Giving is fully possessed by enjoyments, and being protected by morality, one will go to the heavens. Even with the peace of wisdom going before, wherever one is without support, one does not go to be counted. Even for the sake of obtaining the immortal nectar, it is indeed necessary to give abundantly. Remembering giving, one becomes greatly joyful, and from joy, samadhi naturally arises. If one can attain this equal state, one will gradually come to know the truth of birth and cessation. The giver, with the heart of giving, dwells in the heart.

The afflictions of will be reduced. Whoever gives alms, in the meaning of that giving, the name of attachment is cut off from the beginning. To whom alms are given with a very loving heart, therefore, 'that' and 'with' have abandoned pride. Seeing those who are able to receive, that is, those who have happiness, if anyone has a little, then there is no stinginess. After the giver has realized the fruit of giving, he will destroy the darkness of non-existence and ignorance. Therefore, the peaceful saints are accompanied by stinginess and craving, and from there they destroy the act of giving, and from then on, giving becomes a branch of liberation, therefore, it is liberation because it obtains so many faults. Just as other beings desire trees for the sake of shade, some for the sake of fruit, and others for the sake of flowers. Thus, giving is done completely, some for the sake of peace, and others for the sake of wealth. Therefore, especially for those who live at home, they should try their best to give alms, the most excellent is the treasure, giving is the essence of wealth without essence, this is the path that follows the saints. Giving food very well gives strength very well, and giving clothes also gives the body. Whoever gives a dwelling to the saints has also given everything in the world. Giving a vehicle also gives happiness, and giving a lamp is giving eyes. From then on, giving the immortal that cannot be taken away, whoever teaches with the ultimate Dharma. Some give alms for the sake of desire, others for the sake of meaning, and one for the sake of fame. Some for the sake of heaven, and others for the sake of love. Your giving is without attachment. Therefore, well done! You have cut off craving in this way. Whoever accomplishes it as it is, may his desires be fulfilled. You have come from a place with dust and darkness, and the wisdom of pure wisdom will increase greatly. The Tathagata has thus truly walked on the path, rejoicing and dwelling, engraving the temple in his heart, and going in time with his close ministers. After going, he arrived at the capital of Kaushambi.
